A good place to go with kids on a budget. Most of the food was fried and not much offered for fresh seafood with original flavor profiles. Decor could use some uplifting. My favorite hinge about our visit as the Kim Crawford wine was well...More

Ate at DeSoto's again during this year's trip to Gulf Shores. Best meal for the money near the beach. I had the Broiled Seafood Platter and my husband had the grilled tuna. Both were good. Gumbo could have been spicier. Their bread is delicious, and...More

Was recommended by front desk dude. Fairly quick to get table for dinner. Building is very dark and old. Cluttered with decades of decorations added here and there. Staff well above average friendly. Food just average although sweet potato topped with roasted pecans was the...More

Good food. Great service. We dined there twice in two days! Grilled grouper with sweet potato casserole and fried green tomatoes the first night. Did. To get the f/g tomatoes again as they were mostly breading and tasted like food service food.

My family stoped in for dinner and everyone was happy with their meals. I got the coconut shrimp and it was great, the dipping sauce was one of the best I've had.

Sorry folks, we must have picked a bad night. Hostess Stand was arguing with a customer about his bill, while those of us who just came in the door were waiting. Hostess then tried to take us to a table, and it was seated already....More

Three couples in our group. The food was ok and the portions were generous, but I doubted the freshness of the seafood. My fried shrimp was most likely from a box and not fresh from the gulf. The atmosphere was dark and dank. Service was...More
