FGT is affordable southern cooking with wide variety of options on menu. Desserts are too expensive for portion size but otherwise affordable and not too salty. Chicken and Dumplings are awesome as is the baked chicken. The dinner rolls have a stickiness that is odd....More

Meat and three is not dead in the south! Fried Green Tomato is an offshoot of Irondale Cafe and run by the same person. First of all they have a current 99 on their Jefferson County Health dept score! Had the catfish, hushpuppies, green beans,...More

Service was very good & so was the food. Foe a meat & 3, it's hard to beat. My only complaint was trying to cut a portion of the country fried steak on the corner with a plastic knife.

This was our first visit. It’s much like the Irondale Cafe minus the long cafeteria line. The food was true Southern style and the food was delicious. The only negative to me was the seating. If you came in as a group of five or...More

I am concerned about serving blazing hot vegetables in cheap thin plastic containers. Everything touching hot food is plastic. When you pay $30 for your meal you expect more.

I eat here every few months when I forget how expensive it is and what small portions sizes they give. The food is quite good, but charging $17 for a meat and three that doesn't even fill up a small child should be criminal.
