I use to come here regularly. The place is good to meet expat friends and to drink beer. There is a daily changing offer for food for special price. Unfortunately it normally has a lot of cigarette smoke inside

good place to hang out to watch sports or with a group of friends. Looks modern and high end unlike traditional pubs.Quite spacious. They have a quiz night on Tuesday where you can win alcohol. They got a ping pong table, two dart machines and a pool table.

We went there last friday after the renovation The place was big and a lot of big tables for sharing. More games to choose from dart billiard table tennis and etc. aside from the big screen to watch games. It was holiday but they were very busy.food was good we had Tacos mojitos and beer.Service is good even though they... More

I've been a regular at The Camel since it opened in the run-up to the 2010 World Cup. Over the past 6 years it has been my go-to place to watch English Premier League football. The beers available on tap have improved dramatically over that time, a big plus. The food side of things is more dicey. Prices have gone... More

We've been coming here for 5 years... Couldn't be happier with food and drinks. Sometime around 2 years ago pizza got like twice smaller, prices went up, service went down. Last time we went was a disaster : French fries were like 2 days old, burger was tasteless, and Carlsberg beer wasn't drinkable ( super bitter, waitress said that it... More

We went to watch the Warriors and all blacks rugby games. It showed both games and other sports as well! The service was very good even though it was very busy. We had food and drinks and we were very satisfied!

If you want to hangout with/ in an Aussie Sports Bar in Shanghai, then this is a great start. There is always an AFL game playing on one of the many large screens, and day or night, weekday, or weekend, there is a croud of Aussies cheering. They have an OK selection of beer that is always cold. There is... More

I go to the Camel every time I'm in Shanghai. The Guinness Stew is to die for. I love sitting there watching Rugby although I don't understand the game yet, but the food and drinks are great. You will not be disappointed.

Go to Shanghai Brewery instead. If there were a way to rank zero, I would. This place is such a horrible place run by people who care nothing for their customers. I won't waste time getting into details but their food is mediocre, drinks are overpriced, and staff insanely rude. Plus, over entitled non-Chinese (white Brits) staff are horrible to... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
