The location is good and when we went the service was good. The food was edible but nothing special. The main problem for me was that it was incredibly smoky, even by Shanghai standards where people some everywhere. If you love people watching and don't mind smoking then this is a great spot, but not for food lovers.

Nice area with lot of restaurants. we had good food and good service, contrary to others what is written. able to get a good table outside, and food was good quality. Staff were very attentive. What people do not understand in China is the turnover of staff is high so yes service can be questionable anywhere.

Wasted money and time. Undelectable food made worse by terrible staff! Rude and loud just standing around chatting. It should just close down! Waste of good sacealoudawhostoodatound. Even the manager was taking part. We left without even

Service fine. Location great for a date or a drink between friends. Recommend the berry mojito. And the fries! Just a little overpriced.

Very nice location, but I understand now why there were so many open tables when all the other restaurants around it were full. I cannot comment on the food, we left before we had a chance to order. We were seated, then waited 10 minutes before drink orders were taken. Keep in mind there were only two other guests outside... More

Wanted to eat something on a Monday night. Knowing most places in Shanghai close early, we chose this area because bars and restaurants stay open later. Or so we thought. The girl at the stand outside, where they have the menu and where they tease customers to come in, started complimenting us on our noses (!) and eyes (!). Fair... More

Nice view, limited menu and so-so decor...thought they'd at least serve some chips as a welcome snack...but was disappointed... Mini drinks...though the menu said 300ml...I don't think it was even 250ml...had the roasted chicken with fries...needs more gravy and the wedges was a bit tough...also my friend ordered the salmon fillet...more like salmon piece...a portion too small... Once is enough...next... More

This bistro is right in the center of the Xintiandi action. It is a good place to sit out, enjoy a drink and grab a bite to eat. The wine list by the glass at this place and most includes labels from all over the wine world...but mostly low-end Chilean or Spanish wines.

Our first visit to the Xintiandi was a memorable afternoon spent at the Fountain Restaurant watching the world go by! We sat outside for lunch and the atmosphere was buzzing. My Son and I had the Pork Ribs with Potato Skins and a Side Salad, my Wife had a Pasta Dish. The food was well presented and tasted great, a... More

The food was good, mostly western with a nice choice of drinks. The seating was comfortable and you had a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor seating is extremely comfortable with cosy living room setting for large groups. Outdoor seating is also comfortable with a lovely view of the fountain and the crowds. There is also very nice music... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
