Our guide brought us here for a farewell lunch. The three of us had roughly eight different entrees and drinks for a total of 300 yuan. Each dish was fantastic. This was one of our best meals in China. Service was prompt and the view of the bell tower was nice as well.

Wonderful food here- my first experience with the many great restaurants found in shopping malls in Shanghai! Exceptional food, exceptional service. We enjoyed great dumplings of many kinds, among other things. The table-setting was pristine in this large, friendly setting. Enjoy!

OMG! The food here is delicious and reasonable. I had the best hot and sour soup in my entire life here! The menu has photos of the food so you can easily make your selections. Very little English spoken here and we knew this restaurant was a winner because of all the locals eating here. It was packed for lunch.

This restaurant is above a shopping Mall and we enjoyed a very good, relaxing lunch with excellent service and good Chinese food.

On our first night in Shanghai, we had dinner at this restaurant. It has many chains and we chose this as it was near our hotel. Ambience is busy and spacious and not noisy. The menu is like a huge dictionary with photos to help us choose. We chose a variety of food ( pictures will be posted) and all... More

I always want to eat well, but I also want to feel at home. Here, I felt at home, and the food was great. I had only three nights in Shanghai. Shanghai CHIC restaurant is so good, I came back two nights in a row. Night one, I ate a pork dish, green beans, and rice. The pork was lean,... More

I had lunch here as part of a tour of shanghai. It was a clean and the service was efficient. The price was also very reasonable. The food was good. I had a duck appetizer, pork with bread, vegetable dumplings, and the restaurant provided melon for dessert. It was an enjoyable experience. I mention the 5th floor in the title... More

Real authentic Shanghai food. Delicious. Best chinese food I experienced in several weeks in China. In a shopping center surrounded by a dozen local restaurants.

Dined here with a business colleague. We were sidelined to an out of the way table as there seemed to be a Chinese wedding about to begin, although the restaurant was still open for business to ordinary diners. Waiting staff seemed to be less than interested in us, however, the food was nice enough. Not that far from YuYuan Gardens... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Shanghai’s original walls live on in the curve of the streets that serve as the border to the old city. An aerial view shows a clear circular outline and parts of the original wall are preserved as monuments to the ancient past. The main tourist attraction of Yuyuan (which means Yu garden, though it is often redundantly referred to as Yuyuan Garden) draws hordes of tourists every day, but wandering the streets around the complex reveals more exciting attractions such as food and antique markets. There are also streets lined with shops peddling everyday wares such as Chinese dining ware and craft notions that can be even more enticing to visitors uninterested in the usual tourist fare.
