A huge place with great beer! The IPA was wonderful. Just don't have it first - it's so robust you won't be able to taste the other brews if you do! I went on a Friday night. The place was heaving. But I got a seat at the bar. Mainly young chinese, but still ex-pat friendly The beer was expensive... More

Beer, beer, and more beer. The food is good. This is a nice change from the two or three beers from your home country that one finds in most places in China.

They serve their own beers and several guest beers. The pub is poorly lit, except a few tables. The food is good "pub grub". There are other, better brew pubs nearby. for me there is no reason to revisit Dr Beer

Found this place on our strolling through the French Concession near our hotel, the beer was good, and the Trio Burgers were ok. Place attracts western tourists mainly and it's nice, but nothing special if you look for some local Chinese experience...

Ok, as a Bavarian Traveller I've my own preferences in beer. But all my friends and me pour down our beer into the plants outside. Terrible taste. Inside looks nice, folks are 22yrs in average. No need to go there for beer.

Had couple of beer samples and liked them. Food menu is limited but felt this place is more for drinking.

Came on a Wednesday night at around 11pm. There were still quite a lot of people and there was good vibe. The concept of the bar is quite cool and you can see these large brewers inside. Seats are comfortable and spacious. There's also a DJ.

I'd go back for the ambience, live band, and service. Great place to hangout/ chill. Able to accommodate large groups. Music's perfect.

The food is totally fake. Pizza is really bad, handmade beer they seldom provide. So you often choose the commercial one. If you choose the other food is really bad. I had stomach ache...frenchfries...cannot be eaten. Oil so heavy. Inside light no existing. Heavy food smell. Cannot even read the menu 'coz no light. Music only once per week...and when... More

And great beer brewed on site. I had the American styler IPA which was very fruity and hoppy. Excellent the band was also very enjoyable and staff friendly and helpful.

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
