Lamb Roast is very tender and tasty. Bread also nice, bbq skewers also worth to try. I visit this restaurant 3 times already, always long queue, so be patient, good food inside.

The atmosphere is fine, service is average. The lamb is fabulous, so if you eat nothing else, just eat the lamb. Vegetable dishes are poorly cooked which is unusual in China. The mushrooms are outstanding.
The food is definitely good and authentic. True Xinjiang specialities. This being told the service is close to poor and when going there you honestly do not expect western rock music !! If you're looking for good food this is the place to go but...do not expect anything more.More
I've tried many restaurants while in Shanghai and this one is very simple and delicious! Especially their oven baked bread from Xinjiang! Their PaWaLiYong cake after dinner with hot tea offers the palate a nice finish! Give it a try, but it's very popular and...you will need to book ahead of time!More
I ate here on my own when walking home from work. Every dish I had was fantastic and it was great value for money. I had the lamb skewers, a small bowl of xingiang noodles, fried onion balls, fried potatoes and a beer. The service...was quick although they speak no English. RecommendedMore
Autentic xinjiang food. Not the best of shanghai but the price stays moderate ( taking into account the location) and the quality and service reliable. Can eat for less than 500 rmb for 4 persons including beer.
A good middle eastern restaurant with delicious lamb. There is a giant door you have to open to get into the restaurant, and once you do you will be greeted by the staff and taken to your table if you have a reservation. We got...a table at the 1st floor and the atmosphere was unmistakably middle eastern. They have private rooms as well, for big parties. While we were there, one of the rooms ordered a whole barbecued lamb and it was quite a sight. The food selection is good and the quantity was more than enough. They do have several standard dishes on offer but I recommend you order the more specialty dishes. The lamb kidneys may not be for everyone, but once you get used to the taste, it is quite delicious. The prices are very reasonable as well. They also have belly dancers to entertain everyone, although we missed the performance by a few minutes. Be sure to try the beer as well, when you are there. Overall, it was a good experience.More
This restaurant is fantastic in every way. It has outstanding food that is a particular Chinese Cuisine, but I can't remember the name. They tell me it is from a part of China near Russia. Try the lamb dishes, the breads, and also there is...a dish with tomatoes and beef that is oustanding. The prices are also extremely reasonable, even for beer. It seems to be somewhat unknown by tourists and expaits perhaps because the hotels don't recommend it because it is so inexpensive for what you are getting. Check on opening times as it is not open very late in some locations particularly on weekdays. (closes at 9 P.M.) There are now seven locations in Shanhgai...so, success says it all. www. yelixiali.com (website not operating as I write this!)More
