Lovely Thai food but small serves. My favourite was the mango salad. Lots of mango and a good balance of flavours. We also ordered tom yam goong, green curry chicken, pandan chicken and stir fried morning glory. They were tasty and comforting after a long day of walking in winter.

Wow, didnt expect THAT good thai food at all and I am a heavy user of the thai cuisine (-> Thai people gave me my Tripadvisor Nickname because I emptied their food stocks :)). Anyway, just pick the cashew nut dish, a papaya salad amd enjoy it! After that lean back and order the "mango sticky rice with coconut juice".... More

I used to work in the LOFT so would very often go to this Thai place in 2013. Prices were reasonnable with quite a good quality. In China most restaurants would agree to provide a cup of water if we do not want to have a juice or anything else with the meal, as it is in most countries in... More

This was our second visit to Naam Thai and we had a very pleasant evening there. We dined as a family of 4 on a Sunday evening The decor is clean and quirky and different from the other Thai restaurants around town. Service was excellent, especially liked that the senior waitress would come and check our order if the waitress... More

Great restaurant and great main chef. Though the quality has gone down just a slight bit in the last year, its still a great family destination for dinner and drinks. Definitely one of the Thai restaurants to visit.

Very delicious, authentic food with a great ambiance in the restaurant as well. It is no doubt my favourite Thai restaurant in Shanghai.

My husband and I ate here recently as we wanted to have a change from Chinese food. The service was excellent and English speaking and the menu extensive. The food was authentic, fresh and well presented and we were both delighted with our red curries and the pandan chicken we shared. It was non smoking and the ambience was relaxed.... More

Naam Thai is a casual resataurant in "the Loft" in Shanghai. The food is quite authentic, similar to Bangkok. We had Tom Yum soup which was nicely spicey. We also had a shrimp entre and of course Pad Thai. The service was very good, the food enjoyable, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We enjoyed dinner and would return when we... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
