Had an evening event there and grabbed something to eat right before and the prices for food were quite steep. They are however generous on the bread and the service was good and rather quick. The terrace and environment were also pretty good. Very nice place for chilled drinks or dinner in Jing'an.

Western food is quite decent and presentation is nice. Value is good. I liked the convenient location and the menu. Waiters are a little bit short-staffed maybe as it took a little time for them to come to outr table.

Visited with a group of friends on a Sunday evening. Food and service was acceptable, but nothing special and there are better choices in Shanghai (certainly for the money). Did have to send back some cocktails to be re-made, which was fixed to our satisfaction and without any question, so a good response on this point

We read online about the restaurant and decided to take a try. The staff were very relaxed and kind. A nice variety on the menu. A little pricey, but the food and presentation was nice. Started with the Rocket and fig salad, moving to the pork chop and also shared the seafood risotto. A nice dinner.

I've been to Henkes several times, mainly for brunch, and I really like the atmosphere. Henkes also offers what is on the menu of La Strada or Mr Willis, which gives plenty of varieties to choose from and the food is consistently great! On sunny days it's nice to sit outside with a glass of wine or a cocktail. Henkes... More

Henkes is tried and true. Of all the Craig Willis' portfolio of restaurants, Henkes is my favourite. In a nutshell, the food is consistently good, great for couples or small groups, great ambiance, ample patio seating for good weather days, great service thanks to Max and his staff, as well as being centrally located in Jing 'An near Metro Lines... Really good pizzas, pastas and sandwiches, but much more than that. They also serve more refined dishes. Delicious beef carpaccio, grilled chicken, steaks; and interesting specials.

While I am not a big fan of the older Mr. Willis, this variation is a very comfortable place, better than average service and what seems to be nice food. We had pizza and bouillabaisse. The pizza was good, so much nicer than the Mr. Willis ones. The bouillabaisse was a nice variation around the concept. Really enjoyed.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
