Great baked goods, reliable quality. What is there not to like? This place has been packed since it opened while other places around it seem to turnover on a regular basis.

This best is well known among locals and international travelers. Pastry is very good and delicate. All the salad comes in large bowl and large portion for great price. So much flavor and taste. I can come to this place for salad just about everyday !!

Well located on anfu lu with a decent if not terribly exciting menu. I often go on weekday mornings to take advantage of their half priced coffee. Their pain au chocolat is fantastic! Their pastas are also pretty decent, well flavored and hearty portions.

Good location for breakfast. Many expats and food is quite good. Good internet. Gets crowded in mid-late morning so earlier is better.

Nice little bakery that I have been to several times over various trips to Shanghai. Located in the old French Concession area, it has the old world charm of the low buildings with a nice updated and contemporary interior. But more important, the baked goods are very well done here. A croissant as good as you could find in Paris... More

Great for coffee and cake. Fresh pastries, plenty of choice. Nice aroma'd, real coffee. Recommend visiting for a coffee after peak hours to avoid any problem getting seats or quick service.

I am always curious about places busy all the time but that delivers such a few quality food. Service is decent, place is ok, but food is really deceptive ! Bread is turned into an industrial flavor !

Good venue for a weekday lunch with a friend. A simple, healthy, smoked salmon sandwich was accompanied by plenty of greens. There are some unusual but nice fresh fruit blends available, along with coffees and a good selection of pastries. Agree, the pricing is a bit on the high side (around RMB 110 each) but the venue is a pleasant... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
