We arrived in the beginning of Easter Week and didn't have trouble finding a spot, I understand that on a regular weekend people wait on line to get a spot. Everything was delicious and big portions. For appetizers we had Tortilla alineada which was great,...More

We just happened upon this place during lunch hours during our travel from one hotel to another, and couldn't have been luckier. Even though the staff spoke limited English, they were eager to seat and serve us. The atmosphere was wonderful and it appeared to...More

Good food, good service and a delightful location in a glade at the side of the winding road up to Poas Volcano.

Enjoy sitting outside among swaying trees. We over-ordered, but made our way thru it all any way. Gaita pollo – bit of stewed chicken on a small tortilla was excellent. Negro soup came dis-assembled – you put the cilantro, onion, rice, and avocado into the...More

Dinner at Chubascos was one of our favorite meals during our recent Costa Rican vacation. The empanadas were absolutely delicious paired with the sopa negro. The cosadas con pollo was amazing paired with their tomato and pepper soup. We were there during an exceptionally windy,...More

Many people referred us to eat here either on the way up or back from our day trip to Poas Volcano--as it's some kind of pretty famous restaurant. It's a nice, spacious property with tons of tree coverage and greenery--I can see the appeal and...More

This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.
