This is my 2nd trip to La Fortuna and La Tipica never ceases to fill my appetite. I love the taste of the wood cooked meats and fish a very nice change from the typical pan fried soda type places. The staff could be a little more friendly and understand more English, but what the heck i am in their... More

We were a large group of adults and kids. The menu was quite varied, from typical Costa Rican to hamburgers and pizza. The meal was good and the staff efficient.

Plenty of choices at this soda with friendly servers and an outdoor eating area surrounded by local plants. Try the arroz con pollo or a casado plate. The beef was very well seasoned and delicious. Very affordable and not touristy, but menus do provide English translations for easy understanding.

We went here for lunch this week. The first thing i noticed were the strong gas fumes from the kitchen area. The food tasted okay but was overly greasy. Customer service was eh.

Stopped at this soda without having read reviews were pleasantly surprised. Food was fairly basic but really good (the guacamole was to die for, and the chips were amazing... more like fried tortilla pieces than typical chips). Great open air setting, good service, and felt very authentic. Prices were very reasonable. It was a great find.

We love eating at down home, friendly restaurants which provide a peek into the culture of the country we are visiting. La Tipica did not disappoint. I felt as if we were served the very food that would have been put on the table in the owners home. Very tasty, wood fired grill. Cosada was great, service was very friendly,... More

Stoped at this place for dinner during my stay at La Fortuna. What had my attention was that it it was wood fire cooked, so we decided to stop and check it out. The place was very humble and the service was excellent. You can feel the kindness and the warm heart of the Costarican culture at this place. I... More

This was the first restaurant we ate at our first night in La Fortuna. We all ordered casado and were not disappointed in the taste.

I've been here a few times during my two trips to Costa Rica, mostly because it's cheap, tasty, fast, and in the middle of town. I even saw some of my tour guides stop by to grab something before work. The fresh fruit shakes are really tasty, and the owners/workers are friendly and accommodating, even if you don't speak much... More

This was our favorite tipica from our trip to Costa Rica. The salad, fried plantains with guacamole, and casados were delicious as were the fruit & milk batidos enjoyed by all. The cheeseburger has seasonings mixed in that some liked and others, well, not so much. The food did take a little longer than ideal, but there was a large... More
