Not a typical restaurant - more like eating in someone's front room. After so many hotel restaurants this was a refreshing change. Nice too to be able to choose anything from the menu - not many veggie options in other places. Enjoyed chatting with the...More

A welcomed break from the fried greasy crap you end up consuming every day in Costa Rica. Had an amazing smothie with local fruits, the guy from Pennslyvania who works there even gave me a shot of Noni berri for my stomach problems which seemed...More

I went there with 2 of my friends one night, because one of them is a vegetarian. The restaurant is not on the main strip so it was kinda hard to find. We were there on a week night and it was dead, as in,...More

We drove around in circles trying to find the Tomato and gave up. The next day we tried again and finally found it. The food was nothing special and the owner, an expat American, seems disinterested in running a restaurant. When we told him about...More

Adults say: the owner seemed to be completely out of it; the place was totally disorganized, cramped and haphazard. The food itself was no better - think processed cheese, slimy veggie ham and awful circa 1970's soy burgers. Given that the place has only two...More

Gonna have to admit it was late and I did not eat here. Stumbled on this place and dropped in. Had a little healthy beverage, hung in the cool atmosphere and chatted it up with the owner. This is worth hunting down and I added...More

Over all the food was excelent. We were staying at the hotel there called Los Tres Gatos, which included all are meals. That can be risky sometimes, but at this place it was very good. The cooking was all done to order. Not a fast...More

After having almost everyday Pico Gallo we were desperate for eating vegetables and clean food. The Flying Tomato had exactly what we were looking for. Delicious homemade soups, Veggieburgers, salads, juices....just a big variety of tasty and fresh made vegetarian dishes. It´s not easy to...More

Fantastic Chili! Hard to believe there wasn't beef in it. Excellent vegetarian menu, great location, good prices, and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The best vegetarian restaurant I have seen in Costa Rica.

I hit the flying tomato every day I was in La Fortuna. Love the place, love the people, loved the overall vibe of the place. Very welcoming and friendly. Sylvia makes the best scrambled eggs I've ever had - the eggs come from their own...More
