We visited this restaurant for dinner. After reading the many mixed reviews we decided to take a chance. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The tuna tartare appetizer was mushy and with too much soy sauce. The hostess/ owner was very pleasant although at times...More

Had seen this place earlier and was on list to visit after looking at the menu. Drinks - gin fizz - had no alcohol taste at all ! My starter of ‘authentic ‘ Gazpacho’ was thin with no garlic flavour; the additions of vegetables were...More

Food nicely prepared and very tasty. Nice location and setting a little out of the main tourist area. Near Eat at Joes. at Witch's rock. Service is upscale for Tamarindo white table cloths and napkins and nicely dressed staff. Owner very personable and made sure...More

El Coconut was walking distance from the Tamarindo Diria, heading out of town. It is located on the opposite side of the street from the beach front. El Coconut had a nice welcoming atmosphere. Katharina, the manager/hostess/owner etc, welcomed all to the restaurant and paid...More

It was average and okay. The place was empty for dinner hour, but we had been looking for someplace with coconut shrimp on the menu, and they had it. The wait staff were dressed up substantially above all the other restaurants in town. They weren’t...More

My friends who live in Tamarindo first introduced me to this restaurant. During my recent visit, we experienced the great food and service twice. The food is awesome, I would highly recommend starting off with the Avocado Shrimp appetizer. I have not had a main...More

We love seafood. The tuna and mango tartare was half frozen. The curried snapper was just ok and they charged an extra $2.50 for an extra shot glass of curry sauce. Pretty venue poor food. Search elsewhere.

We recently ate dinner at El coconut during a Tamarindo-wide black out. The owner was so gracious to invite people in, despite no electricity, the place was covered in candles, and the cooking staff was making all of our meals by candlelight. The staff was...More

My son and I caught a number of fish in the afternoon, buuuut, the hotel room doesn’t include even a microwave! What to do? I called Katerina at the El Coconut and dropped off the fish at 5:30 PM. I returned with my family and...More

This setting could just as well be in LA or Paris; beautiful teak terracing, all handmade wood furnishing and the shining cobber from the bar and the lamps give that warmth and good feeling we all enjoy. The wait staff takes pride in being members of Team Coconut for years. It is their personalized attention that permits them to remember each client and their likings. Nowhere else will you feel as Welcome and Well attended as here. Every day the same words are repeated "The Client is the King". At El Coconut you will also find a truly professional kitchen where the main ingredients are "Heart & Soul". Who could be able to resist an Avocado filled with sauteed Shrimps, A Tropical Lobster prepared with fresh pineapple, raisins and ginger or not to forget the Surf & Turf even big enough to satisfy the hungriest surfer. Where else in Costa Rica would you find a temperate wine cellar of almost 1000 bottles? Nowhere that we know of. Our wine selection goes from the easy drinking Latin American table wines to finer selections such as Chateau Neuf du Pape, Penfold 389 and many more. Our seating capacity is more than 100. We are used to and truly enjoy arranging your special events; be that "The President's Club", incentive dinners, rehearsal dinners or weddings. Let us make your night that special night.
