You order, she cooks. A little bit of grandma and a solid authentic meal. We were the only ones there but that meant she catered to us.

I went here with a group of 6 friends and we had a blast. Isma cooks delicious..heavenly food and the price is super cheap for the big portions you get. The fruit juices are delicious also!! I highly recommend this place if you want to get a real caribbean meal :) Hope to come back here soon!

Stumbled across Soda Isma as we were starving and it was empty and the first soda in our paths and I was extremely surprised to have one of the tastiest, if not the tastiest chicken dish of my life. Simple Chicken, rice and beans in Caribbean sauce for $6 and it was delicious. The lovely woman who owns the place... More

I heard about this place from a local vendor when I asked about getting a fresh seafood dish. I went that night to Soda Isma to order the Rondon, a spicy seafood dish. Unfortunately, because it is such a small operation, they can't keep the ingredients on hand because they will spoil. I was instructed to return the next day... More

Good ole down home Caribbean cooking located on the main street in Puerto Viejo. You may walk right on by because you will think it is an old house but is Soda Isma, a privately owned house restaurant that offer service like visiting a friend or family. Mama will go into the kitchen and whip up a nice plate of... More

Cute place but food is just ok. Had Red Snapper Casado, the rice & beans were just ok. The fish was covered in a garlic based sauce, normally I would love, but it was a bland sauce. The meal was right around $8, which is the going rate for all Soda's across Costa Rica. I recommend that if you are... More

We had this food on our first night in town after almost 24 hours of travel and it was just what we needed. Chicken with rice and beans was really delicious. Bring small bills though, we had to overpay because they couldn't make change,.

I am back in Chicago now but my mouth waters for Isma's Caribbean style beans and rice, jerk chicken and sweet plantains. I definitely recommend making a stop here during your stay in Puerto Viejo. You won't go wrong, and your pocketbook will thank you. Stop by and let Isma serve you her tried and true Caribbean style cuisine. You'll... More
