Cafe Viejo is popular. The food is good and the staff is nice when it’s not too crazy. Once it gets busy and crowded it’s a different story- they will literally offer to cancel your food if you are sitting in the rain or want...to switch tables. Usually that happens when people get a little too comfortable in their workplace.
It’s impressive when you enter a busy restaurant and the staff makes it look seamless and there’s no freak out moments or frantically running around. Not the case here.
The savory crepe is to die for- order it with add on of spinach and mushrooms. Maybe even a fried egg on top.
Cinnamon French toast is hearty and delicious, more like cinnamon bun French toast.
The Rosella special ( the name is something close to that) is good but it doesn’t come with beets, it comes with one bite size piece of beet.
Avocado toast was good even though it was talked down by the waiter. That roasted garlic makes it worth it. The tomatoes were also perfectly ripe.
My friend had the juevos rancheros and she said they were good as well.
Looking forward to trying the chilaquiles next time.More
The perfect place for breakfast in Puerto Viejo! We ate here 3 times in a row and absolutely loved it. Excellent service, very friendly and attentive and the food tasted wonderful. We would come back anytime!
Extremely cute Breakfast spot tucked in a beautiful tropical garden!
Great coffee, delicious food (best Huevos Rancheros I’ve ever had!) plus they have a book exchange and a baby sloth that likes to visit and sleep in the bamboo!
Laundry on-site that you can pay...to use if you need some clean clothes. Very friendly staff.More
Absolutely MUST visit for breakfast. The coffee is the best and you can’t leave without trying the bread with homemade butter and jam. The resident baby sloth had just turned 1 year old when we were there. I wish we had discovered sooner during our...trip…we would not have eaten breakfast anywhere else!More
