Amazing atmosphere; very eclectic. Loaded with campy antiques and wire sculptures. To say nothing of the baskets of spectacles sprinkled about. All of this in a beach front Costa Rican Caribbean milieu. The owner is really named Jack and is a long time Australian ex-pat with a fascinating past that he is more than willing to share. And on to... More

This place is a must see! It would take you hours to really look at everything around this bar. It is unique and there is nothing else like it in Puerto Viejo! We had lunch (they have a cheap eats menu which was great for us!) here and it was delicious and we also spent a night drinking at the... More

Looked forward to visiting here but I was really surprised at the condition of the place. It has seen better days years ago. Everything just looked so worn, even the plastic chairs were discolored. The owner-bartender matched the decor and seems like he just rolled out of bed. I noticed he was drinking 2 beers at once. Food was just... More

We stopped at Outback Jack's one afternoon for a beer, while on our honeymoon in Costa Rica. The owner and his wife were so nice and we had a blast hanging out and chatting!! We didn't try the food but would have loved to!

We spent 4 nights too few at Jack's over the course of our 9 day vacation in Puerto Viejo and were sad to have to say goodbye to owner/bartender/DJ Jack, his wife/cook/waitress Penelope, and permanent bar stool resident and conversationalist, mean Gene. It wasn't just the great fish and chips, reasonably priced and well mixed drinks, or hilariously witty and... More

I was here with a few girlfriend of mine, and took some drinks. The owners were so Nice and the drinks were amazing! The atmosphere was nice, and we really loved how they had decorated the place. My new favourite spot! :)

We ate here twice on both visits to Puerto Viejo at lunchtime. The food was consistently good, the beers were as cold as you could get them and the home made lemonade was a feast for the eyes as well as being really refreshing. The music was great, the conversation with the owner was great. The decor is really unusual,... More

The owners want to sell. That means the passion is gone. Really nice people who are just... done. Potential for lots of business but their prices are outrageous. I have had 3 meals there - beautiful food, really good. Just ridiculously expensive, even for Costa Rica. Sometimes love of money is our undoing.... Best of luck, Outback Jacks.

I did not eat at Outback Jacks, because I was travelling on a budget and the food is a bit more than I wanted but the food does sound amazing. **they also have a backpacker menu which is more basic and much more reasonably priced I stopped to have a drink at outback jacks, and seeing as it was Happy...
