I enjoyed the atmosphere, but was not impressed with the food both times that i ate there. I have no plans on going back.

Really enjoyed the food and the service was great. It was fast and friendly. We don't live in SJO but if we did we would for sure go there more often. The house itself looks to be a historical house and it is very funky. Would definitely recommend to friends and family..

From the moment you enter the gates of this gracious home-turned-restaurant you feel like you've left the depressing security bars and sad, squat little buildings of San Jose behind. We sat on the terrace surrounded by a lush garden, colorful walls and beautiful tiled floor. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and managed to provide great service in spite of the... More

Very sketchy area to begin with, but once there, the food was pretty good, and if you want, you can go off the menu. Staff may have had an off night as the service was pretty poor. Our friend dropped a wine glass, and she was wearing flip flops and the staff didn't even clean up the glass until we... More

Overall pleasant experience- way overpriced personal pizza $15 - 22 depending on what you order. House converted to restaurant- small rooms-alcoves-veranda dinning. Hard to find--NO SIGN! Walking in main entrance -like going into a jungle- first timers would be wary of getting mugged. Owner gracious/pleasant staff very nice /attentive. Serve fresh bread(so-so) with olive oil y cheese(olive oil was lacking-not... More

Dear costumer: Perhaps you ignore that Costa Rica is one of the most expensive countries in the area , and all the premium ingredients we buy for our restaurant are more pricey than in the US, and you also seem to you ignore the fact that there is a mandatory 23% sales and service tax that has to be added... We arrived in San Jose late and found cafe Mundo close to our hotel. The building is very pretty, we sat on the terrace and were greeted immediately by very friendly staff. My husband had the beef stew from the specials menu which was very good and I wasn't as hungry so I had a couple of appetizers, the melizana... More

Is a great place located in an old house in SJO downtown.. I recommend to arrive using UBER or red taxis and do not walk around the place if you go during the night. I love everything in the menu and the wine of the house is the best. The price goes according to the place and the food quality

Nice cafe hidden away but recommended by our tour company. The service was great and everyone loved the food - apart from the pizza which had far too much cheese!

Thank you so much for visiting us . Our pizzas are made with homemade sourdough crust and fresh ingredients , and we use the amount of cheese that our customers like , based on 22 years of experience, but tastes vary , especially from one country to another . Next time you visit us we woul be happy to make... More

I have read some of the reviews here and I think they may have been eating in a different restaurant. My experience was very disappointing. The building is nice, decor ok, but the meal I had was tiny, poorly cooked and very expensive for what it was. Two small plates of pasta in a soupy sauce and one glass of... More

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your visit to Cafe Mundo, please remember that in Costa Rica there is a 23 % service and sales tax , and that inflates prices quite a bit , besides we use high quality imported goods that are also heavily taxed, in spite of that our prices are lower than ,...
