This is your typical bar and cafe, but the food was very good and reasonably priced. We at a little early by New Zealand standards, so it wasn't too busy, but the food arrived quickly.

Popped in while waiting for friends and had coffee, hot fries and nachos. The service was friendly and quick. The coffee was fantastic and the food tasty. Good experience for a quick visit.

A nice casual atmosphere with a funky décor. Solid menu with all your pub favourites. Enjoyed the burgers and nachos. The steak wasn't so good though. Massive jugs of beer - they tasted just fine. Perfect for a visit for a beer and snack after a day in the hills

Disappointed by the food at Mountain Rocks because the atmosphere is quite good. Trouble is everything is just bog standard - exactly what you expect it will be, edible but bland. For example nachos are slightly stale, topped with a basic chilli con carne and cheese melted in the microwave.

Visiting this glorious country from the US. Had a delicious breakfast here. Owner and staff told us so much about New Zealand. We felt so at home. Great coffee and menu choices, and the "to go" choices were amazing.

The place was packed 2 times we were there. Being from Auckland I was hoping for a really good coffee on our second day in the snow. The coffee was 4 stars. Service ok, there's a hidden area out back which is really cute. Didn't eat there as we didn't want to wait forever for a table, plus it seemed... More

Excellent breakfast & coffee: I tried the homemade muesli, which was beautifully presented with yoghurt, berries and fruit. Really tasty. And excellent coffee to round off a great kick-starter for a busy day.

How disappointing, I had Seafood Chowder that I had to add a large amount of salt to as it was very plain and I love my Seafood Chowder. I drink my coffee black so its got to be good and it was burnt I can do better at home. My partner had the large order of Beef Nachos where was... More

I was going to be silently disappointed if the coffee was to be average or poor but I was DELIGHTED. Delicious latte. In fact the kids ordered a hot choc that came with a wee milk jug and marshmallows and the choc shake had a massive topping of cream and it was real cream, not the sweet disappearing kind from...
