While this is far from a fine dining restaurant, after all you are in Talkeetna, the food is very good (this was our fourth visit over a 6 year period), and we have found the wait staff to be friendly, and we even have chatted with the owner on several of our visits.

We only had our evening meal and breakfast here and we had no problems with the menue's which offered many variaties of things to eat.

This restaurant was a bit more formal than we anticipated but dressing casually is still fine. The service was good and the food was equally good - a nice treat after a busy day!

Our meal at the Mountain View restaurant was very expensive and disappointing. My husband had the chicken breast, which seemed to be two pressed pieces of re-constituted chicken, with an unusual taste. I fared better with Alaskan salmon, broccoli and some sort of pasta – which I left. The bread rolls came with whipped margarine. Our waiter was unpleasant and... More

Mediocre food; clueless service by completely untrained staff. Not different from other restaurants on the property

We did not have high hopes as we had eaten at the bar next door which shares the kitchen but the duck and the steak were excellent as was the service. A welcome respite from an otherwise disappointing stay.

We were in a party of four with my foodie brother and his girlfriend. We had two truly outstanding dinners in the Mountain View (even though we didn't see the mountain!). The menu was varied, the appetizers and salads were creative (salads in Alaska are among the best I've ever had, with wonderful local greens), and the entrees were amazing... More

Food medocre, and very much overpriced in my estimation. Would not eat here again. Would choose the 20320 Alaskan Grill of the Base Camp Bar & Grill first. There is a coffee shop that offers Starbucks coffee and some deli type items too, the displays were not appetizing to me.

We ate here a few times. Service ranged from excellent to 'just ok'. I think the server you get (and maybe the mood he/she is in) determines your experience. Reservations are required. Dress is "Alaska casual" - come as you are or dress up. The king crab legs are good as is the halibut.

Another dinner date tonight with different members of our group. So far each meal has been interesting and the people have been great. The menu was impressive and the servings generous. All Princess restaurants are well designed, this one aiming to catch the rustic nature of the Lodge's setting, without sacrificing any of the comforts. The service was great, the... More
