Let me start with the "issues": 1. It's a 30min beautiful drive from Plett, or 1hr from Knysna. 2. There is no menu- you eat what you get. 3. It is 100% vegetarian- no meat at all. 4. The owner's pets (chickens, cats, dogs) roam freely. And now onto the food and experience: The restaurant is in the owner's farmhouse,... More
Visiting Fynboshoek Cheese Restaurant is certainly a "must-do" experience. The selection of cheeses produced on the farm is great. The fresh bread is superb. Everything served is produced locally and of outstanding quality. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and the service is friendly and efficient. We had a great lunch there with our friends.
Fynsboshoek is basically a cheese farm, but the farmer does lunches on his pretty verandah for a few people each day. Lunch is simple. Cheese and rosemary balls followed by freshly baked foccacio, - and a cheese board of a selection of the delicious, organic cheeses produced on the farm with a green salad with leaves fresh from his garden.... Enjoy Alje's (the owner) award winning home made variety of cheeses and homegrown garden salads on the patio of his homely restaurant. No meat is served and I (who enjoy meat) didn't even miss the absence of meat on the menu. This highly rated restaurant, hidden away near the Storms River mouth, won't disappoint and you will definitely come back... More
