Let me start with the "issues": 1. It's a 30min beautiful drive from Plett, or 1hr from Knysna. 2. There is no menu- you eat what you get. 3. It is 100% vegetarian- no meat at all. 4. The owner's pets (chickens, cats, dogs) roam freely. And now onto the food and experience: The restaurant is in the owner's farmhouse,... More

Visiting Fynboshoek Cheese Restaurant is certainly a "must-do" experience. The selection of cheeses produced on the farm is great. The fresh bread is superb. Everything served is produced locally and of outstanding quality. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and the service is friendly and efficient. We had a great lunch there with our friends.

Fynsboshoek is basically a cheese farm, but the farmer does lunches on his pretty verandah for a few people each day. Lunch is simple. Cheese and rosemary balls followed by freshly baked foccacio, - and a cheese board of a selection of the delicious, organic cheeses produced on the farm with a green salad with leaves fresh from his garden.... In late february we had the change to try this place. We were not sure what to expect exactly however we read it should be very good.We contacted Altje to book a table for lunch and he responded very fast. The place is a bit remote but quite easy to find with the description you receive after booking. The restaurant... More

After an adventurous tour to get there (due to my failure to read the instructions well..) we had a really lovely lunch. Everythimg but the butter was homemade by the owner, a microbiologist by origin. He has put his knowledge to good use by producing excellent cheeses with Very distinct tastes. The fresh mozarella was a real treat as were... More

If you are a cheese lover, Fynboshoek is a must. The restaurant is a charming gem and part of an operational cheese farm. The four course lunch is made to order , all from scratch with ingredients grown on the farm. The award-winning cheeses are the best cheeses we have ever eaten and boy did we eat! We also opted... Enjoy Alje's (the owner) award winning home made variety of cheeses and homegrown garden salads on the patio of his homely restaurant. No meat is served and I (who enjoy meat) didn't even miss the absence of meat on the menu. This highly rated restaurant, hidden away near the Storms River mouth, won't disappoint and you will definitely come back... More
