The food is good! Atleast their version of curries, the red and the green curry, however it doesn't taste like true thai curry once have been to Thailand, that was a bit of a let down. However everything else still feels and looks thai. Do...More

Had roasted duck which was suppose to be their signature dish, it was so dry it hurts to eat it. Portion of rice was very small and you could barely feel the spice at all in the main dishes.

Doesn't taste like one. A glorious triumph of style over substance. Inadequate use of essential Thai flavours. Thai beef salad tasted overwhelmingly of celery. Not much beef. Stir fried seafood had a tantalisingly small hint of basil. Looks like it should be 5 star. Tastes...More

We had a very bland meal, the waitress was not very good and we had to keep trying to get her attention. It was a most disappointing evening, and we left after paying a large bill but unhappy with our food.

Excellent staff with superb menu! The pad thai is very authentic! The restaurant is located right in Nelson Mandela square overlooking Nelson Mandela's statue and the water fountain. The staff are very well trained - polite and quick to respond! The manager is lovely too!

Me and my fiance came and visited your lovely restaurant one week away from our wedding. Food was divine accompanied by friendly staff. Was so nice to relax and be treated with amazing food. Will come again! :)

Decor is lovely. Service was hurried and poor when asked for menu to be explained. Noodles were lumpy. Both meals of chicken and seafood had similar taste. Have tasted better elsewhere. Will definitely not return.

Place is nice. Services were not as these cheap restaurants I've been they are better. Had duck meet and noodles. It was so dry for the level of a restaurant. Then we ask for a chilli. They did not add olive oil. It was just...More

The food is not matching the price. Food was average but over priced. Clean restaurant. Service good. Atmosphere stiff. It may appeal to others. For me it's not worth a revisit. Portions was small too.

Description
The flagship of the Thai Africa Group is undoubtedly Wangthai Sandton which overlooks the prestigious Nelson Mandela Square. The most authentic Thai restaurant outside of Thailand. Wangthai Sandtonalso serves the DIY dining experience: sensational Thai Suki Hot Pot. A culinary concept which dates back over 1 000 years in Asian history, Thai Suki Hot Pot today - continues to tantalise the pallet and tease the senses with its fragrant oriental flavours. Best enjoyed as a group affair; the Thai Suki Hot Pot sees an aromatic broth, brimming with flavourful Eastern ingredients, placed in a pot, and atop an induction stove - within the centre of the table. This simmers away throughout the evening, while guests gentle poach their favourite selection of fresh ingredients. There is very little effort involved, other than to indulge, at leisure, in the refreshingly light tastes of Thailand. Wangthai, invites both businessmen and women, as well as the social sect, to sample this ancient cooking tradition, to which it has added a unique measure of contemporary stylishness.
