My husband and I went to Licorish Bistro with expectations that were quite high due to the reviews we'd read. We were there for dinner, I had the lamb shank korma, which was just ok. It did not have the usual sweetness of a korma, but the flavours were there. The shank could have used some more time in the... More

Heard about this pop up and just had to go. Licorish was hosting a pop up for the team from whisking it. The food was amazing so sad it only for a few days. Good menu options, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Good day. I ate lunch with my uncle at Licorish yesterday. It was the first time I tried Licorish and was looking forward to it due to good reviews from my colleagues. I ordered the 3 different portions of lamb served as one main meal and my uncle had the beef option. We paired it with wine. The concept is... More

Licorish is a little gem of a bistro whether you're looking for brunch, lunch or dinner. It has a fantastic original menu, great cocktails and sharp service. I went for dinner the other day with one of my mates. The sommelier really knew his wine and recommended to fantastic bottles. You actually go look at the wine rack and he... More

Set in the Nicolway shopping centre with a selection of restaurants which rank amongst the best in Johannesburg, Licorish Bistro manages to serve some of the most different and delectable dishes that stand out from the usual choices available in the other restaurants.

3rd time we went for dinner - service was good as always.... the "taster " plates are still as good, though they are only meat. We did ask for a fish "taster" plate, which they said they did not have, however, the chef went out of his way and actually made my wife a fish "taster" plate (salmon, tuna and... More

Licorish bistro is a gem when it comes to delicious food and service. If only it wasn't located in a shopping centre it would be my favorite goto restaurant. Their breakfasts are amazing and you must try their seasonal tasting plates to sample the taste and texture sensations from the kitchen. A must if you are in the bryanston area.

Bistros are the way to go..smaller establishments, more attentive service and innovative food. Licorish deliver on all three counts. Steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. Colleague had a 3-meat dish, all cooked well. Good choice of wines and some craft beers on tap. Well worth a try.

This is an upmarket great restaurant in Nicolway. It has a warm atmosphere and excellent meals with wine pairing. Friendly and efficient service. It's suitable for romantic and or business dinners as well. It's a little expensive but it's well worth it . Make sure you book in advance.

All meals were excellent if a bit over priced . I had the pepper steak (sirloin) and vegetables, which was very good. But at 170 ZAR I felt it was about 20ZAR too much.
