Avoid this place. Horrible food, extremely expensive, and when you complain, the manager thinks it appropriate to try and intimidate you. Simply not worth it.

Worst experience on Christmas day!! For a place that is called a Restaurant and Wine cellar you atleast expect a table set with wine glasses and if they bring you glasses that every glass would be the same. Table is not set properly, not one place setting is complete! Really really disappointed for the price you pay! Really expected more!

From the friendly lady who took the booking, Precious who looked after us, allyhe other staff who where always attentive - this is an example of what service should be. Sunday buffet was great, the pumpkin soup and mini spinach quiches excellent, the desert table divine with so much to choose from! Excellent play area for kids, and easy to... More

I was in RSA on business, staying at the nearby Irene Country Lodge (see review) and one evening a colleague brought us for dinner to Ga Rouge, a converted old farming homestead, now restaurant with well-known focus also on wine. As a converted house the restaurant is a series of small rooms, with lots of charm. Service was friendly and... More

We returned to this establishment and what a surprise we received with a brand new menu. The flavours and taste on the new menu is fabulous. We enjoyed the dinner very much and would suggest everybody to visit this nice cosy restaurant. Thank you Francois and Desmond for the great food and service.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon! We enjoyed a great afternoon picnic under the trees feasting on delicatessen from the restaurant. The kids played on the open grass fields while us parents could relax drinking a glass of wine. I would recommend this to anyone lokking for a peaceful afternoon picnic!

We were a large group booking at the venue and fortunately arrived early as the dishes started to arrive at a slower pace as the seating picked up. The service were excelent , ambiance was wonderfull and the quality of the food was outstanding. We all had various dishes around the table and there were no complaints.

We booked a family picnic, it was so peaceful and lovely! The picnic basket of goodies was delicious, the wine was great, it was such a lovely day! Going to the restaurant itself soon, and I'm very sure it will be spectacular!

Garouge has always been a favourite of ours until the last visit. We were the only people there at that stage. Waited more than 50 min for our food. When the food arrived the espetada was cold, the chicken was inedible it was so dry. The cheese sauce was so thin it looked like milk. The food and especially the... More

In the 1800’s, long before the town of Pretoria came to be, the Erasmus family settled on Brakfontein farm. The “waenhuis”, built in 1841, and the “Voortrekkershuis”, built around 1854 still stand on the property today. The location has been declared a Historical Heritage Site.

In 1895, the “Here Huis”, was built, and the house remained largely unchanged from its original form until 2007/8 when it was beautifully and painstakingly restored to its previous splendour.

The “Here Huis” is now a restaurant where people can come to enjoy and admire this historical monument! Much of the original building materials, brought from England to South Africa by sea, still remain in the house. There are even original chandeliers, restored to their former beauty, hanging in some rooms. The restored Douglas-fir wooden floors were brought over from the Americas by Spanish ships in the eighteenth century and are not to be missed.

Today we invite you to join in the preservation and celebration of this remarkable piece of history in the true spirit of South Africa and her people. Let our world renowned hospitality, unique interpretation of traditional cuisine and elegant country charm allow you to experience extraordinary fused gourmet.
