Beautiful views of baobabs and tasty pancakes for lunch. Nice to have a beer with such a stunning view! It is slightly tricky to find as it is down a farm road but it features on the satnav!

Take a drive out to the giant baobab tree, just off R527 and be sure to stop for a pancake at the Upside Down restaurant. They make delicious pancakes (similar to a crepe) that are stuffed with a variety of sweet or savoury fillings. They even make their own ginger beer. They have a large, covered seating area, with a... More

In the mood for some good pancakes... savoury or sweet? What about a delicious milkshake? Well stop looking, go to the big tree, take some pictures and move on over to this open restaurant for an enjoyable yummy meal! Don't forget that milkshakes!

Amazingly friendly people, clean and nicely situated to experience the open veld and surroundings. I had the best "pannekoek en slaai" pancake and salad EVER...bought two of the home made salad dressing bottles....a must to all to have hot, strong Boere coffee, made on an old wood-fed Ellis de-lux stove. O yes, and the tree is a must visit and... More

We went to visit Jessica the Hippo and found she was closed at that time so we went back towards the main road and saw a sign for the upside down restaurant and the Boab tree. We made a little detour and checked it out, the tree was gorgeous and worth the visit. The little restaurant was also very nice,... More

Though the big baobab has fallen, there is still one that is quite big that you can visit and take photos of. The pancakes are excellent in the restaurant and can be had with your choice of fillings. The cinnamon and honey one is divine.

This is a cute little coffee shop at the sight of a large baobab tree. There are beautiful views to be seen. Their specialty seems to be pancakes. I would say they are rather expensive although they are beautifully presented. My husband had the lemon meringue filled pancake which was delicious.

We wanted to have lunch at a place unique to the area. Excellent views of the big baobab and of the Blyde River canyon. Food and coffee were quite good...however: Service needs to be addressed. Orders arrived one by one instead of all at once, which meant that half the table has finished eating before the rest received their orders.... More

We visited after going to see Jessica the hippo as the restaurant is on the same road. Whilst service wasn't quick we passed the time admiring the lovely views surrounding the open terrace. When they arrived the pancakes were delicious, I can also recommend the milkshakes.
