We were looking for a Different Cuisine (to experiment) for dinner. And we happened upon this place on Google. We went in without any expectations and came out with a smile. The setting/ambience /interior is very very different from a normal restaurant. They have these round small tables fit for a group of four, covered with conical lids. At first... More

Nice, cosy place. The food is delicious; service is excellent. The person attending to us made us feel welcome and took time to explain the menu. We had injera rolls with two non vegetarian and two vegetarian dish. A beer, followed by Ethiopian coffee. FYI, the coffee came with popcorn :-) Loved our dinner here.

Great authentic Ethiopian food. We had an evening in here, it was a very warm evening but was luckily sat next to an open window. Very relaxed atmosphere, dim lighting and very casual. Low chairs and low tables and you eat with your hands, no cutlery. We went off our waiters recommendations and all was very good indeed. Great to... More

This is a cool restaurant to visit with a group, as the food style is communal. You sit on low chairs and really get a nice introduction to the Ethiopian way of doing things, from the pre dinner hand washing to the shared food. The vegetarian options were good!! Recommended if you're looking for a themed dinner of African interest... More

If you've never tried Ethiopian food before, that's the spot. If you go there as a group, just go for the set menu with a mix of non vegetarian and vegetarian platters, you'll enjoy a perfect overview of Ethiopian gastronomy. Service just perfect as well. I'll go back anytime.

Amazing food and good service. Gave a real authentic feel and something different to what I am use to. Had fun eating with my hands.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and really loved the experience. Staff members were very friendly and attentive (Roy was our waiter). We ordered a vegetarian platter for two (230.00R / 115.00R per person), with Teff injara instead of the standard one (40.00R / 20.00R extra per person, one bottle of still water (25.00R), and one Ethiopian coffee... This restaurant is really great! Excellent service, our waiter was very professional and informative, giving us the low down on how the menu worked, how the food is prepared and traditionally eaten and which flavours went with which. He even taught me how to write my name in Amharic. As a vegetarian I was a bit concerned that all the... More

This restaurant was recommended by the staff of our hotel. It was great. We were lucky, because we didn't have a reservation and there was only one table left. We ordered a couple of dishes, which were delicious. The food is to be eaten with your hands and bread, which is always funny to do. The waiter gave good information... More

Lovely experience, we weren't sure what to expect but the waiter was very kind and explained everything to us very clearly! He helped me pick some vegetarian dishes (since I wasn't sure what to pick) and helped my friends as well by giving suggestions. Since all dishes come on one big plate, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the... More

Description
Addis in Cape! Voted best African Eatery in Cape Town, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that caters for Non-vegetarian, Vegan and Vegetarian clients. We provide a unique communal dining experience you, your family and friends will remember. From traditional hand-wash ceremonies to our traditional Ethiopian coffee we promise a memorable experience.
Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices; this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it. Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia and we are proud as a restaurant to share them with you.
