Great restaurant- lovely service , great food. I am coeliac and it was no problem to cater for me. Lovely local wine and nothing was too much effort. Highly Recommend- book in advance as I would hate you to miss you. It was so good...we nearly went back the next night!More

We had a good dinner here. Service was wonderful. The food was good especially the tomato soup appetizer. The mains were ok. The jambalaya was ok. The seafood dishes were good. And the desserts were very delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.

Great restaurant. The owner is the chef, his wife manages front of house. What a team. The menu is mostly on a huge wall chalk board and the options are clearly explained by Mrs Chef. This a real hands-on establishment. The wait staff are excellent....Good humoured and efficient. The food is brilliant. Fish is the main deal here but there are, of course, meat and veggie options. We both had fish, which was superbly cooked. It was a delightful evening. It’s well worth a visit.More

We had not even booked, but were treated like queens. The food, the wine, the artistic way Jane presents it all made us feel so welcome. Fantastic different flavours to match the fish....or meat. We will surely be back. Highly recommended!

One of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town. Fresh and flavorful. The muscles were excellent to start, and Kingklip perfectly prepared with several choices of style. The curry was also excellent. Good wine list and all the wines can be ordered by the glass...or bottle. Excellent service. Just nothing not to love.More

Always a highlight of visiting Cape Town from the UK. Quite simply the best fish restaurant I’ve been to. Friendly and they remember you. I try out fish new to me on each visit, ably guided by recommendations from Jane and expertly cooked by Solly....Miss it at your peril.More

Recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Warm and friendly welcome - and no problem we were 30min earlier arriving than our reservation. Looked after all evening by the lovely Heather. We shared the mussels in wine sauce and the calamari Cajun style as...starters, followed by Kingklip in both Malay and Moroccan style and shared Pecan pie and Mississippi Mud Pie. All beautifully cooked and well presented. A joyous eating experience. With the generous GBP to SAR exchange rate it was great value too. A place to eat in Cape Town!More

My first visit to Cape Town. I was surprised by the ambiance in the area around the restaurant. Wine bars, other restaurants, tables outside, altogether a very friendly and convivial atmosphere. Same for the Miller's Thumb, nothing pretentious, good fish, well cooked and excellent service...from the young staff Simple but effective My thanksMore

Very friendly place with a varied fish menu, from simple grilled fish to a variety of styles and flavours. The local fish, Kingpin and Kob were both excellent with the kingpin getting the vote. Reasonable prices and helpful staff, en enjoyable visit for us.

Really difficult to book but we eventually managed to via WhatsApp. Friendly welcome and the menu was well explained. Starters weren’t great. Calamari that was dosed in so much chili it was unpleasant to eat. A salad with giant hunks of sun dried tomatoes which...was completely overpowering. The fish mains - Marlin & Kinkiip were delicious and cooked so well but the sides were miserable. Chips, rice or veg. The veg was soaked in soy sauce which overpowering the delicate fish.More

Delicious seafood and fish. We shared a starter of the most tender calamari. It could be cut with a fork. Our entrees were the prawns and Kingklip, both done with olive oil and lemon. The veggies were perfect and the chips were crisp. Tastes of...wine were offered before our wine decisions were made and our server alloted a small break for us between our starter and entrees arriving.More

Wow how wonderful to return to Cape Town and have another amazing meal at Millers Thumb, Jane is always so welcoming and makes you feel like you are seeing an old friend and always brings the menu to life. The calamari to start was perfect...as was the Kingklip and Yellow Tail, I had the Kingklip Malay style it was outstanding, the yellow tail was done with wasabi dressing and it was so hard to decide which was best, topped off with chocolate mud pie and bottle of sparkling wine. It was so good we returned for a second night. The whole team are so friendly and relaxed. I love this place and it’s first on the list to book, Thank you Jane & Sol for more special memories.More

Had dinner here on our first night in Cape Town. We walked from our hotel along Van Waal park which was ok in the daylight. The staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The atmosphere is good, it’s not haute cuisine but very much a neighbourhood...restaurant. A perfect choice by our hotel for our first, jet lagged, night. The menu was varied and the draught beer excellent. The food was good and the service perfect. For a UK visitor, the prices were incredibly low. Superb value.More

I e-mailed. Lady owner responded but late saying TripAdvisor kept giving e-mail address for reservations despite her saying it should be by phone. She was very nice and i did get a cancellation. Bottom line is use phone.

Quite close. From MQ to main road, turn left, about 200 meters turn right and it takes 10 to 15 minutes easy walk. The guys at MQ will give you a map if you ask them. It’s worth going, it really is
