We were going to the Fugard Theatre (If you can see District 6 Kanala do go) and the Dias is the only restaurant we found in easy distance from the theatre. This is honest, Portuguese cooking: there is nothing fancy about the restaurant Thin paper serviettes, old crockery and cutlery, no tablecloths, place could do with decorating. However, if it... Simply the best unpretentious Portuguese food in the Cape. Centrally located very near to the Fugard Theatre with ample free parking. When ever my soul is screaming out for a busy, friendly, vibery onslaught of Portuguese spices and sauces and especially the best Portuguese steak in town, served on a steaming sizzling skillet, it is off the Diaz I go.... We were brought here whilst on holiday by some friends, local capetonians who like this restaurant and I was very glad they brought us here. It was a little out of the way and off the tourist track but the food was lovely. My friend had the Kingklip a locally caught fish, which she'd never had before and it was... More

A friend recommended this restaurant to us. The owner made special arrangements for us, as we did not make a booking beforehand and this place is buzzing! So, my first tip is to book your place!! The setting is very casual, nothing fancy here. They specialized in Portuguese food, so my husband ordered a Port Rump steak and I had theCalamari... More

On arrival we were met by co owner Dani and escourted to our reserved seats. Live music was playing, audible yes, but not deafening. The early customers were leaving to go to theatre nearby. We ordered whole baby chicken, peri peri flavour. It was both huge and well flavoured. The Dom Pedros in our opinion is still the best in... More

This is a must visit. Great Portugese food. Peri-peri chicken, Portugese steak is the best on the menu. Asked for Maria Strauss to serve you. Enjoy.

Was surprised to see so many reserved tables at 6 oclock in the afternoon on a weeksday. Nice vibe with the plactic yellow chairs. Good service, but food seems to be all deep fry, bit to much oil. No garnish at all on the plate.

Used to visit here weekly when I lived in the city. Returned after many years away hoping for the awesome food I always had. Welcome and service were outstanding as always but I was very disappointed in the calamari and steak I ordered. The plate was swimming in oil and calamari tasted of old oil. So not what I had... Great food as always, although the trinchado was extremely salty this time around. Baby chicken perfectly done and value for money. Chicken espetada was soft tender and tasty. Katembas good as always. Quick friendly service

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and value for money. Great live music. The peri peri chicken is a must try as it's one of the best I ever had. Friendly and reliable service. Highly recommended.
