About
As the cornerstone of the Muizenberg community, the Blue Bird Garage Food & Goods Market takes place every Friday night in a beautiful old postal plane hangar on the edge of this urban village. You will find this space filled with a collection of local artisans, specialty cooks, bakers, producers and designers. We bring the butcher, the baker, the t-shirt maker together under one eclectic, creative, vibey roof. Handpicked South African wines, craft beer, delicious food, live music from local artists, a creative kids area and great company are all part of the tapestry that makes this a very unique and inviting market experience. It's a great way to spend a Friday night!

We went on the two Fridays that we were in Cape Town. It's worth coming at 5-sh as it is possible to find seating. When we arrived after 7pm the place was jam packed full as we took our food back to our accommodation to eat. Fresh food made to order. With an indoor playground for young children (R20 per kid).

This is an absolute must do. The market has a fabulous atmosphere and is full of people of all ages. It’s quite crowded but that just adds to the vibe. The main attraction for us was the number of pop-up food stalls. The Thai was exceptional and we took some home and it was equally good microwaved two days later. But there are loads of food stalls for different tastes and local craft and food, enough to fascinate anyone for a couple of hours. We went 3 Fridays in a row and really enjoyed the atmosphere and things for sale (beautiful flowers that brightened up our rental property).

Great food, mostly on the left when you walk in those seem to be the favourites for locals. I loved the jewellery and clothes too. The bar is well run and the vibe is out of this world. Also Guestique is just round the corner, I think the new owners are calling it The Place Muizenberg now.

Open every Friday this wonderful collection of food , bars, craft and clothes is really remarkable. With a simple and kind decor - fresh flowers on all the tables - and all the booths focusing on the product it had a lovely under branded and merchandised feel to it. Food choices are very wide and the ones we had were all delicious - many choices for pudding too. Free entry and once you have your choice you find a place to sit and eat. Not dissimilar to Maboneng, but less chaotic and with a lot more style and way better layout

I always have good time at the blue bird Garage. Each time I'm in the area on Friday night, I try to pop in. Such a nice and friendly market, offering a large selection of food to try... Maybe even too wide, making the choice difficult!

Community spot for best of all loca vore offerings. I so enjoyed seeing a group table setting filled full of neighbors chatting and filling the great big space with laughter. A true treat.

Our host suggested the market on arrival today and on impulse we visited the market. Great vibe, interesting people, wide selection of food, bar etc. Various reasons to visit. We will visit again next week. Highly recommended if in the area.

Second time I have been here when visiting from Australia. Love the vibe and classiness of these markets. We ate from Bunga Bunga, the man with the big smile. My husband being coeliac needs to be careful, he knew all about it and was on it. Huge platter, more than enough for both of us. Liked that there was salad and meat, all well cooked and tasty. Able to buy a couple of ciders from the bar area and we're able to grab a seat. We bought spices, a hot cross bun, gin and fresh apples. Love it all.

Get here early to get somewhere to sit! Long trestle tables give this a real communal feel. This has a more authentic atmosphere than some of the other food markets that seem to abound in Cape Town. A book stall too - although you may have to go outside to find the vendor if you want to buy any!

I just came from the market feeling so dissapointed, this man sold us so called platter (Rocket, gabage, tomatoes, steak, sauce, olives) for R350.00 !!!!! The steak was not even 150grams, there was a capers and olives here and there. Its a total rip off!!! Do not buy food from Bunga Bunga, he let you pay afterwards charging you R350,00 for a “salad”. I could have eaten something decent at harbour house which is a top restaurant!!!!! This is awefully disgusting and a huge dissapointment!!!! I will not recommend anyone to eat at Bunga Bunga.

The R90 steaks are inedible. Do not be tempted. When I challenged the stall owner - I was met with a hostile attitude. The food should at least be edible & it is not.
