Very good food, good atmosphere for a nice evening! The service is outstanding, the wines are fine. It is overall a very good place to spend your evening.

The owner (Johann) can be a bit chatty and might come across as slightly bossy/aggressive. Just relax and you will soon learn that he is actually just talkative. The dinner menu changes every week. The food is absolutely fantastic. A must-have is one of the various malva-pudding adaptations.

We were just wandering around looking for somewhere to eat and found this restaurant. The name somewhere rang a bell and were we blown out of our socks with great service, great food and the general ambience of this off the street restaurant! We were celebrating 40 years since we met and for most part of the evening had the... More

A friendly welcome was followed by good service. The food was excellent: the green pea soup with topping of apricot and rooibos purree was an excellent balance of tastes. The sirloin had a bilton basting and a mild green pepper sauce which blended fabulously. Do not miss out on this hidden gem!

This must be the worst food, the worst service and the worst owner/ in fact the owner doesn't deserve to remain in business, rude, crude and revolting . Simply stay away.

Booked a table for 7 on a Monday night during a long visit to the Cape area. Arrived to find the restaurant literally completely empty, which at first impression is somewhat alarming. After being seated by a waiter (who was also wearing a chefs outfit, and was presumably also a kitchen staff), we ordered drinks. To my dismay, they were... More

We went to Emily's on a blustery windy Monday night in Cape Town. We had a party of 7 so made reservations. The restaurant is fairly small but were suprised (and initially worried) we were the only diners. Thankfully, this turned out to be one of our favorite meals during our trip. The Starters were fresh and crisp. Everyone's main... More

We all enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Beautifully cooked and presented food - the fish was very good. The panacotta was disappointing but everything else delivered. The service was efficient and very pleasant. We found the atmosphere was relaxed and sufficiently buzzy.

Emily's bistro It was Monday night, there were 2 of us and 1 other diner, so there was no atmosphere! No doubt there is on other nights. Pleasant enough surroundings, nice waiter (studying for a law degree). The food was generally better than we experienced elsewhere in South Africa. Under Table Mountain salad was good, prawn & calamari salad excellent.... More

Excellent choice of very good food. Book a table outside if the weather is hot. Attentive service. Panacotta not as we know it (more like blancmange) but everything else very good.

Thank Richard G
