The good meat make up for the unstable tables. They could use restaurant fly control lights to helpkeep flies away. I did not like stray dogs at my table. A little more attention to that and it my be better.

We got taken to Mzoli's by a friend and it was one of the most fun things we did in Cape Town. The food was delicious and the general atmosphere of the place was wonderful. It gets busy so booking a seats is recommended.

Although we dined at some of the "best" restaurants in Cape Town during our recent visit, our family declared lunch at Mzoli's to be our favorite dining experience. We visited as part of a Township walking tour with Vamos Tours. While it would have been intimidating to visit and navigate Mzoli's on our own (it is in a Township and... More

If you want an authentic brai (BBQ) experience this is the best place to go. It's in the hood, but the locals are used to seeing tourists, so nothing much to worry about if you're near the restaurant. There's a bar next door where you can bring your food and have some good convo. Food was delicious but be prepared... More

If you are looking for some great meat, together with music, some party and a local touch: Mzoli's is the place to go for a Braai! I spent the day there last Sunday with a group of friends: the atmosphere was great with an equal mix of local and tourists ! The concept is simple: you get there, pick your... More

Believe it nor not, but I did visit the Mzoli's as part of a business trip to South Africa from Germany straight after having landed at the Airport and boy was this a start to the four day South Africa trip. Located right in the middle of the Township Gugulethu did this establishment strangely combine many things into one: a... More

Highly recommend this place. I must admit I was unsure when I got there because of the area but once your in it's a great atmosphere with Afro house music. The locals are really friendly but I would say go as part of a trip so you have transport as it's not advisable to be walking around outside. The food... More

The queue for entry was insane. granted, this is not the establishments fault as it is quite popular with tourists. Standing in the heat for hours did not appeal to us and we were then referred to Gqudu (sp?) Butchery where the vibe, food and live music performance surely outdid our two hour wait outside Mazola's, waiting to buy entry... More

The traditional brie (sp? pronounced bree) is a gathering of friends and family in the neighborhood. It's a bbq of sorts, where everyone from the township brings their side dishes and beverages and celebrates together. You purchase your meat of choice at the counter then take it back to the kitchen where it is put into the fire. Then you... More
