All tables have a great view of the sea and at very close quarters too, rocks and wildlife immediately in front of you. Tiger prawns and Kingclip fish were all perfectly cooked and very reasonably priced too. A Beaumont chenin blanc we had was not available when we ordered a second bottle (there were 4 of us), so they kindly... More

Bietangs cave restaurant was a super experience, the service was good, the beers were cold and the lunch was excellent. And the best view in the world, will definitely be back!!

Was there with family for early dinner. We did not have any reservation but the staff seated us outdoor as requested anyway as long as we finished before next reservation came in. Did not expect the food to be this good since a lot of time restaurants like this in touristic places aren't really that good if you know what... More

One of our favorites in South Africa! Best location. Nice crew and good food. (Even one of the waiters was still there after 10 years... fun!)

This restaurant is situated in a great location next to the sea. Excellent wine list but very expensive. The food was ok but nothing special about it. It lucked taste. Service poor .There are better restaurants around the area with affordable prices. Not everyone is a tourist.

You can't have a meal much closer to the sea without being in it! The restaurant is tiered with the back two tiers inside the cave, the place to be when the wether isn't so good, the front two tiers are outside and right next to the sea. The Menu had a reasonable choice, not just fried stuff and the... More

The unique situation is what makes this restaurant so special. We took 2 visitors for lunch on a sunny perfect day and sat right down at the bottom level on the rocks - they couldn't believe it. We each had a simple meal - salads, fish, calamari - and each one was delicious and well-cooked. Instead of beer batter they... More

Bientang's Restaurant is located in a cave, on the sea, overlooking Walker Bay. When the whales are in the bay and resting off the rocks, you can get wet from the spray when the whale blows. The food is pretty good but the variety is not what one would expect at a seaside town. Quality and service have gone up... More

Came there for cocktails and was told the section down by the water is closed we could not sit there. Halfway through our cocktails they seat another table down there. Won't ever go back....

This International award winning destination venue is the most unique restaurant setting in the world. Created out of an authentic, cave previously inhabited by a Koi Strandloper of the same name, the restaurant spills out onto the oceans rocks of Walker Bay in Hermanus, where Whale Watching is the preferred local pass-time. The rustic charm and natural ambiance of the cave and it's surroundings is a delight to all our patrons with many returning year after year to sample the delights of Bientang's Cave. With an abundance of sea and bird life as well as Dassies for company, this exquisite setting is heightened by the freshest seafood and an award winning wine list (Diners Club Diamond Award 2010 to 2013).And, should you be a non-seafood(ie), we offer meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes to satisfy any palate. We are also able to accommodate food allergies and special dietary requirements if pre-informed.Reservations are always advised as our location, quality of food and ambiance attract visitors from across the globe throughout the year... However, should you be passing and the aroma's drag you down our stairs, we do have a cocktail/ oyster bar where guests may enjoy a drink whilst waiting for a table.Bientang's Cave is open daily Lunch: 11:30am to 4 pm.Dinners by prior arrangement. Please note Bientang's Cave prides itself in offering large group functions, corporate events, weddings and other functions.
