We were lucky enough to book an AirBnB apartment with the family who run Kilzer’s Kitchen. Leaving from our apartment we could smell the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen downstairs. We were invited in to see the cooks preparing for the Friday market and...More

We visited Kilzer's Kitchen for the second time this September and were delighted to find that they survived the recent devastation that befell Knysna and surrounds. Having experienced their signature Cook 'n' Look dinner last time, we tried one of their Loooong Table evenings and...More

A lovely evening of good food & interesting conversation. The long table on Friday nights is supported by locals and the relaxed and friendly vibe is lovely. Kilzer Kitchen is a family affair and each family member adds to the flair of the restaurant. Service...More

The food is excellent and the hosts and their family are very personable. However, it's a long night and probably more suited to parties than couples.

We went there for their Friday winter evening looong table with great expectations (after reading all the reviews) and was certainly not disappointed (on the contrary)!! I had the lamb ossobucko and my wife had the ( de-boned) chicken peri-peri and both were really well...More

Jenny (the funny one) and Albin (the straight guy) are hilarious as they cook and joke their way through the supper you are about to eat. They demonstrate from their sunken kitchen while diners look on and laugh. Their Cook n Look evenings are held...More

KK is so very part of Knysna, it is a 'not to mis' The Kilzer family prepares the food, have everyone gather as spectators to their kitchen and food preparation....and there they take you through the whole menu. Some weekdays they have a long table,...More

Our second visit, again for a special occasion, where you want a memorable venue. This place continues to surprise. The ambience, helpful and friendly staff, humour of the family when explaining the meal in the kitchen, and circulating among their guests afterwards all adds to...More

Type of Cuisine - South African Part of Kilzers Kitchen Cookery School - this restaurant operates on Wednesday evenings only for the public. The format is basically as follows : Our guests 19:00 in the evening - bringing along their own wife and their own wine ....no corkage charges at all ( for the wife or the wine ). These dinners are hosted weekly ( Wednesdays) from the beginning of November - end of April annually. Upon arrival guests are welcomed by our waiters ( as we are frantically busy in the kitchen )--- and given appetizers to nibble on, as well as a "welcome drink" - at present our flavour of the Month - a home made Limoncello - to warm them up on a cold Winter's evening, or cool them down on a hot summer's evening. At approximately 7:30 for 7:45 we welcome all our guests to the open-plan kitchen, where we give them a complete run-down re: the dinner for the evening. Starters & main courses are prepared in full view of the guests as they congregate around the kitchen area, along with our famous joke telling - a bit of "Kitchen Theatre". After this guests return to their individual tables, ( laid up as per customer reservation ), and the meal commences with a starter, followed by main course ,dessert, coffee/ tea and biscuits to end the meal. Everything edible is prepared in our kitchen - including the apperitif, as already mentioned. All in all, it is an evening celebrating food, more food, fun, and of course, the guest's own choice of wines - which are sometimes dodgy, other times magnificent - all depending on individual taste. The atmosphere is a party atmosphere, and the noise level is generally high and festive.........Enjoyment of the evening is up to you. We would love to welcome you and look forward to a visit from you and whoever you wish to bring along.............wife, lover, mother- in- law............. We cater for any special requests, e.g vegetarians, gluten intolerant or any other food allergies. Please advise beforehand.
