Wonderful tourist-friendly location in Recoleta. Really fun stuff especially the waiter Joseph. And make sure you do not miss ordering the baked empanadas. I especially love the picante meat as well as the chicken. Great folks from all over are the customers as well as wonderful locals. open for lunch and dinner. Went there twice because we loved the food... More

Every trip we make to Buenos Aires we go at least once at El Sanjuanino. It's a place full of character, a typical San Juan Province ambience and food. We love all the empanadas and the mildness, and the pork, everything pairing with a good Malbec. It's a must for my husband and I. The service is friendly.

Empanadas were really good. The best of what we had were the chicken & ham/cheese. The caprese were good but not cooked quite enough. Fun & vibrant atmosphere. Always busy. The have 2 levels, the main & lower.....we are on the main floor so we could watch the people come in. Several took carry out. Great place to grab a... More

Ok to be fair I haven't tried all the pies in Burnos Aires. But I come from a country where pies are a huge part if our cuisine,so I can tell you that this tiny shop serves delicious pies. We had ours to go since it was really small and no table to sit. They made them in a few... More

We went there two times in 3 days. The empanadas taste very good, the price is very good also (23 pesos each) and they are ready very fast. The guy at the cashier is in a bad mood constantly but you don't need to talk much with him. The guys who give the empanadas are very friendly!

This place seemed like a more authentic Buenos Aires spot. It was small and packed, but the food and service were great. We tried a variety of empanadas. The best was the honey and nuts (for dessert)! Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it.

This restaurant excells with their assortment of empanadas but also has an extensive menu of other foods. It is a very small place with a basement dining area also. Arrive early as it gets very busy with locals and tourists.

We were told this was the best place to go for empanadas. It's rustic inside and frequented by locals and tourists alike. The empanadas were 'nice, not thrilling' and if you've ever had a half decent Cornish pasty before, you won't be blown away by what's on offer here. Service was ok but a bit slow.

One of the best empanadas em BsAs, hands down. But don't expect nothing besides this. The employees are pretty rude and the place is crowded, with tables really close to each other.

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
