We were a little skeptical about the whole concept of a "closed door restaurant" at first, but it proved to be our best dining experience in Buenos Aires by far. We were welcomed with drinks and went straight to their living room, to mingle with the other diners. After everyone arrived, we were seated at their table, and had a... More

We were at Casa Saltshaker at the end of April. It was one of the best meals we had in South America and we had many good meals. I can still remember the flavors of each course. Daniel is a wonderful Chef and Henry is a gracious host. We had fun with the other guests and got some good tips... More

Great experience. Reviews generally accurate. Very informal and casual. Low key. Nice mix of people. All tourists / visitors but not all US ( though mostly). It's what you make of it, so join in the conversation. Food is quite excellent. Wines well paired. Right amounts - full by end of evening. A little expensive for what it is but... More

Good food, amazing wine pairings, lovely hosts, and a nice cultural exchange. Casa SaltShaker is the most fun food experience I've had so far in South America. A communal table is a great idea, plain and simple. You might have to be slightly outgoing to go here, but if you can bare the thought of meeting new, interesting people, and... More

This was our first Closed Door Restaurant and one of our best dining experiences. The food was awesome, the service impeccable and the fellow diners were very interesting. The Chef Daniel was a great host and we felt that this experience set the bar for our future expectations in this type of venue. Fresh, local with excellent wine pairings made... More

Dan's cooking and wine pairing were top notch! Every dish has a surprising flavour! I was so full but I just couldn't stop eating! The atmosphere was great, his house design was beautiful too! Definitely recommend!

We made a last minute booking after seeing the previous reviews and had a great evening. Amazing food and wine prepared by Dan who is a great chef. Total contrast to the normal Argentina food - no steak! There were seven people at the table and the conversation was very friendly and the other guests were very interesting. All in... More

My husband and I had an amazing dinner at Casa Salt Shaker. What an interesting experience to dine in the chef's home. It felt like we were having dinner with good friends. Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
