A fabulous Belle Epoque restaurant in Retiro, very centrally located. Over 40% of Argentenians are of Italian ancestry, so it is not surprising that the Italian immigrants would have a club, and what a club it is. We were there as part of a Road Scholar group, and ate early, but by the time we left, the restaurant was full.... More

I was surprised the first time I ate there, first the location near Recoleta neighborhood , a mansion where italian emigrants established a kind of club at 1860, the restaurant is inside, and if you want you can eat in the gardens. The menu is complete, customer care advise between your taste, meat, pasta, fish, cheese, with a selection of... More

Italian business community in Buenos Aires has its meeting point at the Circolo. This magnificent building, with a beautiful garden, is now open to general pubblic. The menu offers a wide range of italian/argentinian food. Not a totally true italian kitchen, since the italian is mispelled both in the menu and in some of the recipes. But this is commonproblem... This restaurant should be great. It is inside a wonderful period building with an enormous garden and massive Banana tree in the center. However I found the food very bland and tasteless. I had the carpaccio starter which looked great but wasn't. I then had the Lomo steak which again was not tasty and a trifle overcooked. The Bianchi wine... More

The garden area is just a small heaven in the middle of the city. The lunch menu is very creative during week days and the prices are quite affordable, specially if compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. Guests seem very distinguished and the service is well trained. An excellent tip.

The restaurant is housed in a former residence. Tucked away between more recently build business locations on a busy street it is a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires. The stylish restaurant room in the back of the building offers garden views, The waiters did a good job. Our salmon appetizer was sandwiched in some kind... More

The restaurant is found at the back of a building. An unfriendly man at an entrance resembling a guard post let us in after we asked for the restaurant in stumbling Spanish. The large room was elegant and had a view of a nice garden. It was populated with some locals. We both ordered the menu du jour which included... More

Highly recommended. Great food and great service - someone had reviewed that service was slowly, i can't say that. I've visited that place by myself but i think that's a nice place for any kind of event especially if you like Italian cuisine. Decoration is pretty minimal but that's not a biggest point for a restaurant. Great value for money,... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
