Located in the very heart of Spanish quarter in Buenos Aires, Av. de Mayo, this restaurant may be rated as truly offering treats from Asturias. Quality of the menu is very good, service excellent, and prices adequate, as portions may be shared. My only objection is the lack of a toilette for handicapped on the ground floor.

Old school. Great service and rustic food of very high quality. I would recommend the rice mariscos, exceptional dish containing squid, octopus, prawns, mussels and langoustine. Delicious. Very generous helpings so best share!

Makes a very good first impression. Looks clean festive and it was crowded adding to the ambiance. We started with a wine that was horrible (it was the cheapest but they should not even offer it if it is that bad). The paella was a real disappointment. It had not been prepared with any salt. The many ingredients were indistinguishable... More

I was in this restaurant the 4th time and this time I was really disappointed. The waitress seemed bored and not really interested in serving us. After this, we had to wait for nearly an hour for our food with several "it will be served soon" from the waitress. We had two different dishes. What they served as "bife de... More

Plaza Asturias is a traditional restaurant in avenida de mayo. Service is very good and the setting is very Spanish but the food is just simply outstanding, particularly the seafood rice and the paella are just amazing. Make sure you order conservatively as the portions, particularly for the rice are huge (2 people means almost 4 for them!)

Seafood Paella is bland and tasteless, it looks delicious, but, unfortunately its terrible. I shared a large order with 3 people, everyone agreed. It was also very expensive, the equivalent of $60 USD. Proveletta was standard quality, Churiso had large chunks of fat, middle quality at best. I have 16 years experience with Argentine restaurants, it's popular but not tasty.

My husband does not eat meat and this is the perfect restaurant for him. The seafood menu was extensive and the serving huge. Just like a lot of restaurant in BA it is dated but with the charm of European café except that this one was big and very busy. Pricing is inexpensive compared to the serving size. I forgot... More

Came on a recommendation and had a great night. Excellent service, tasty food (but steak a bit overdone). Would definitely recommend. A good place to park up for the night and enjoy yourself. Arrive early if you want a table.

Asturias is our favourite restaurant in BA and offers a great dining experience in a city renowned for its steaks the Lomo is consistently perfectly cooked coupled with the fantastic table service an extensive menu and (free?) appetisers and limoncillo to finish with it makes for a great night out.

Came here for a casual dinner by myself, staff were friendly and food was fresh and delicious. The menu is slightly over whelming! But would definitely come back.

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
