Thankfully this modern restaurant is,amongst 5 or 6 others,in a group close to our hotel in Ricoleta,so not far to walk for an early meal as we are finally going to experience a tango evening. Even at 6.30pm with no customers (but not for long) there are at least 10 smartly dressed male staff on the floor, and on advice of... More

We asked the waiter about ordering 1 salad & 1 main dish for 2 people. He recommended it and was totally accommodating (unlike some upscale restaurants that charge extra or give you a hard time). He brought extra plates and knives for splitting the steak. Still had enough French fries for more people. The food was of excellent quality and... More

I never fail to visit this parilla. It has a definitive luxurious feel with elaborately laid out and setup tables, very professional service and beautiful rooms (upstairs and Downstairs). But here the meat is really terrific. The big favorite "asado de tira" is simply to die for. The wine list is extremely interesting although I lament the disappearance of the... More

Right around the corner from the Sofitel where we stayed, and recommended both by the hotel and the A&K tour staff. As others have indicated, the food is very good. The beef was excellent, as expected. We ordered what we thought was a smaller loin, and what we got was HUGE. Cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was very... More

We visited this restaurant with an Argentinian friend who recommended it. Given its position underneath a main road flyover you might be put off - but don't be. The ambience, the waiting staff and the food were all excellent. We had beautifully cooked steaks, tasty and tender and the food was accompanied by good local wine. Not the cheapest perhaps... More

We wanted a good steak house, and went here on advice of Yanina at nearby Brick Hotel. Able to get in without reservations at 9, just before the crowd. Place very popular with locals, and easy to see why. Though not cheap, it was a fantastic experience. Just watch the portions! We had a filet to share between 2, could... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our tour guide. The food was brilliant, best steak ever and a wonderful choice of Malbec. The staff were efficient but a bit aloof. We decided the steak was so good we would go back on our last night and we were welcomed like long lost friends. Every steak is now compared to this... More

Our hotel recommended this as this is only a short cab ride away. Both pork and beef tasted very very good and price is a tad above average, wine is very good as well.

We arrived in Buenos Aires from Lima Peru late in the evening. We asked the Sofitel concierge , where to eat best Argentina beef. She said 2 blocks from the hotel El Mirasol. We order bottle of white wine. My son pour wine in glass and notice on the bottom was red, we call the waiter over , he look... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
