Had been to El Gaucho a couple of times four years ago when the food was good, but not memorable, maybe because we went for the "flyer" offer. Well.....Thursday the 10th March this year is the day that I had the most memorable Sirloin steak in 50 plus years of living on this planet.......what can I say,.absolutely gorgeous, almost melted... We needed to be in the area and happened to be a long time without a meal. This place was obviously a tourist trap, but the food on people plates looked pretty good. Hunger ruled and we decided to go in. I have to say the the atmosphere was OK, the service was very good, the mixed meat was pretty... More

Wide variety on the menu. Generous portions. Cooked exactly as ordered, even in my broken Castellano. Bife de lomo con ajo y piementa negra . . . esta muy bueno. The chimichurri was excellent. Service okay, if a bit uneven. Side dishes not so good. Can be noisy up front. Feels touristic. Needs some better alternate animal proteins; the salmon... More

The steak was good, but they don't care about their customers : screwing them is not an issue... They will give you a very nice discount to get you in, but when it comes to get the bill you will discover that the discount concerns only a small fraction of the total bill. You will end up paying much more... More

Very touristic place, kind of place where they don't really care whether you will ever come back because they know you probably won't. Very good location is the only good thing about this place. Food is very poor, service is slow and inefficient even by Argentinian standards. We left one plate full of food because it was terrible and cold,... More

We were given a discount card from one of the outdoor touts and we went inside because we were hungry. Nice table and ambiance. Very helpful patient waitress who tried to help us with our poor Spanish and her poor English. My friend's steak was grilled just right. The waitress came and asked if the steak was grilled to the... We got hustled in by one of the sidewalk invitees. They offered $13.50 Peso per USD as exchange instead of the legal rate of around $8.00. Thought - why not - looked good from the street. The waitress helped us choose a nice bottle of Rose and with broken English assisted with our menu choices. When the meal showed up,... More

I'd been walking up and down Esmeralda looking for a parrilla which seems to have gone out of business when I chanced upon El Gaucho. I had lomo in a mustard sauce which was one of the most tender and succulent cuts I have ever eaten.
