I came here for lunch during my most recent road trip. The restaurant was not busy so I was seated right away. I really liked the rustic décor. There were few windows so the place was a bit dark, but it did add to the homey atmosphere. The place was a decent size, that began to fill up during the lunch hour. I also saw they did a lot of take out. They had a fairly broad menu with lots of choices. I ordered 2 El Gaucho Argentine Steak tacos. My meal arrived quickly. The tacos came with double tortillas which were needed because the amount of fillings, especially the steak. The taco also came with avocado, cucumber, and pickled onions. I also found out they had a free salsa bar. It was not that big, but there were quite a few choices from sauces, chilies, pico, and other toppings. I plied of few of the toppings into the available container. I don't know all of what I put in it but it was very good. If I would have had the steak alone, I would have not liked it. However adding all the other ingredients and my awesome salsa turned it into a very good meal. The wait staff was also very good. I was impressed with my server, Frida. She not only provided great service, she also made a mean Strawberry Margarita. While helping 2 couples sitting beside me, showed a vast knowledge of the menu when asked for recommendations. I would definitely recommend this Triple D restaurant.

La Santisima quickly became one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants. I have been several times with friends and family and each time the service and food were excellent.
The salsa bar is a fabulous. The options change so look for new and fun flavors.
The taco menu is extensive and offers something for picky eaters as well as for those who are interested in something interesting.
They also have Quesas which are a homemade corn quesadilla. These are not like the run of the mill quesadillas.
There is also a fresca drink (that I cannot remember the name of). It is fabulous and a perfect pairing to any spicy food that you enjoy.
FYI, the website menu is very small so you should go in to see the full menu offerings.

First time finally stopped in with friends. Vegan friend was delighted with selection. I had the black Mole burrito - Excellent. Want to try more of the options next time. Guac was overpriced for the quantity - lots of onion and pomegranite seeds - quite tasty, heavy on cilantro but based on cost vs quantity would not spend that much again. None of this food is what I would call a bargain but it is very tasty. A bit dark inside and went on a cold day and large door kept bringing in more cold air.

PHOENIX LOCATION****If I was able to do a negative on the stars I would. We had a very large pick up order. Prices on the web site along with the prices for each meal given at order time was not even close to what was charged. Price difference of almost $60. When went back and for explanation and reimbursement as well as to pick up all our missing food and drinks; the gentleman whom took our order couldn't say anything other then "look on the receipt" and "my bad" for the missing food. Another gentleman came to try to assist- going to the computer to try and print a detailed receipt to try to figure it out and he was more confused then the first man. The food wasn't that good either. The sides of rice and beans were in small Togo ramekins that you would put dressing in. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We went several times to the old location & loved everything about it, the decor especially the art, the service, the food & cocktails were all amazing. The new location is bigger and has parking which is a plus but it lost some of its charm. They were very understaffed and disorganized. There were two servers who also sat people and made drinks. They were both very nice. We had micheladas with Dos Equis. They took a long time to arrive almost 15 minutes. The horchata came first then about 5 minutes later the Jamaica. Their menu seems way more confusing than it used to be and pricier. We ordered Azteca soup, chili en nogada queso, chicken mole cazuela and la nueva españa echilada style with red sauce. The salsa bar is still great but if you want to take your leftover salsa from the table home with your leftovers, they charge you 99cents for each top. Seems like a rip off and wasteful if you don't want to pay the 99cents. The food was fine not excellent like our past visits to the old location. This has always been a destination restaurant for us since we live about 40 minutes away. After this visit, sadly there is not a desire to return.

I came to do a take out order. Two waiters were at the bar who never said a word to me as I waited. I waited five minutes before anyone came to greet me. After i made my order, I sat at the bar and the bartender never said a word to me or even looked up. I was the only one there. I went the salsa bar to get salsa for the seven tacos I ordered. I put the salsa into the little tiny clear cups but there was no tops. I asked the waiter for tops. He told me they had none; then said they normally charge for the salsa. I had already filled 5 little cups and asked him what I should do with these cups filled with salsa. He said he was afraid to get in trouble and that this was not permitted - FOR ME TO GETE SOME SALSA???!! He checked in back and found tops and said they wouldn't charge me. How nice. But most importantly, the tacos were gross. Lots of fat. Some of the tacos had the fatty meat in there and nothing else. Nothing else in the taco, except for a few onion slivers on top. The steak tasted slightly burned and old (??). Maybe the worst Mexican food I have eaten in a while. Too bad.

My husband & I went to the old la satisima several times and loved it. So, we tried the new location in PHX for lunch. The new location is bigger and has much better parking. First, we ordered a regular and a grapefruit margarita on the rocks. Both were huge disappointments. No garnishment, no grapefruit, no flavor. They tasted like water with a shot of tequila. We complained and 1 was replaced with a new one that had a few tiny orange bits in it. Very sad as we loved the old margaritas. We arrived around 1130 am and the waiter admitted they hadn't cut any garnishments yet and they were out of grapefruit, hmmm. The salsa bar is fun. But, most weren't labeled. We both had 3 tacos. Both came with rice and beans which we did not order. Both steak versions of my husband's steak tacos were dry and he had the Pacific fish taco which was no better than Rubio's. I liked my 3 tacos. Mayan Conchita pibil was delicious. I had the shark version fish taco which was avg. Last I had a shrimp la santisima style shrimp taco which was
good. 3 tacos each plus 1 margarita each was $75. We will try again but later in the day when they've had time to prep. I hope it's better because this used to be one of my favorite places but was very disappointing this time.

The food here is flavorful and delicious. Perhaps the best guacamole that I have eaten I had here. The burritos are delicious with many different homemade salsa from which to select. Also they have a plethora of margaritas which are yummy and interesting.
The setting is interesting and attractive. For cuisine, it’s great here but not as good as Cocina Economica or Presidio but still it’s very good.

There are lots of good places in Phoenix to get tacos. And then it is called a "gourmet" taco place you know that means expensive tacos. I tried the three taco combo plate and while the taste was not bad, I would suggest it did not seem a good value for the price and the rave reviews. There is a salsa bar which is great with everything from mild to spicy options. I'm no expert on Mexican flavors but I have been to my fair share and I just didn't think it seemed traditional and maybe almost more fusion in a way. Like I said, people seem to love this place based on the reviews and I immediately fell in love with the place as soon as I saw the interior decor. But I started to lose my love when I got my jalapeño margarita which had not heat at all and when the food arrived.

This is a cool place. A little industrial feeling on the inside. Lots of day of the dead art work. We unfortunately didn't get seated in the main room but in a side room with only one other small group.
Our server was very helpful with recommendations and I went with her suggestions across the board. Very good tacos.
Chips were bland but the salsa bar had a lot of options and we arrived at a favorite which started with an "a" and was yellowish green but really flavorful with a kick.
I got a platter and enjoyed the rice and beans as well.
Would definitely go back.

Plenty of gourmet taco choices at a good price. The fish tacos are excellent! Even my black beans side dish was extraordinarily good. The restaurant is decorated in the Mexican "day of the dead" style (it might remind you of the Pixar movie, "Coco"). The staff is friendly and caring.

To die for tacos and margs. The Oaxacan Mole was the bomb, and the other two, Santisima Chicken and Al Pastor were excellent as well, complimented by a mango marg on the rocks. Also enjoyed the salsa bar!

Ordered through DooDash on a work trip. My black mole tacos were incredible! Just wish the app showed pictures of all of the tacos or gave descriptions. Also wish my salsa cups had been full. Overall - food was great!

Probably some of the best tacos I've had. Came through and I had the 3 taco combo. I had the Carne asada, chicken mole and the chicken nogada. All were cooked and seasoned great. I had the grilled zucchini with mine and it melted in my mouth. Will definitely be back to try more.

After reading some reviews we wanted to try this place on our visit, it did not disappoint. Service was outstanding! Our waitress explained the menu and offered suggestions. The tacos we chose were all full of flavor. Portions were good size. Highly recommend, we really enjoyed our visit
