I read the reviews here first and I think they are accurate about the excellent food and good, friendly service. The injera was especially good. It is also true that the restaurant is very shabby with somewhat of an unclean feel. The men's bathroom was not clean and the urinal was backed up, lending a sour smell when one entered.... More

The service, the decor, the atmosphere is very simple, the toilet need urgently to be enlarge and redone, the cleanness of the floor only sufficient, the cleanness of the menus is not pursue. It seams to be in a people restaurant in a poor country. Personally I never went to Africa, but I experience similar environment in restaurants in South... More

I have been to Ethiopia the country itself, and LOVED the food, and so I wanted to try this restaurant and give it a shot, and it brought back many memories being back in Ethiopia. I would recommend this to vegetarian folks, or the chicken drum stick is super delicious with the various wats and oils! Mmm, my mouth is... More

This place has wonderful food! We were craving Ethiopian food and ordered the combination veggie and meat plate and we're thrilled by how yummy all the dishes were. The meat and lentils were well-seasoned and there was lots of variety. Also, try the honey wine- super tasty!

We tried this place out years after we moved away. Wished we had known about it much earlier. We came in and sat down and it is a classic hole in the wall with simple tables and chairs. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We tried the Gojo Combo as it included multiple meat and vegetarian dishes. We really... More

Not much to look at but the food is good. We had the vegetarian platter and it was very good. Additional injera is available upon request.

When I lived in Tempe, AZ, I lived around the corner from The Blue Nile. It was my first experience with Ethiopian, and I ended up loving it. During Nursing School I ate there at least once a week. Even after graduating, I still had to have it. When I moved out of Tempe and into Central Phoenix, I found... More

Let me start out that saying, my life has a lot of Ethiopian in it as my wife is and we have visited Ethiopia several times. That being said, I guess my expectations are a little higher than the casual Ethiopian dining seeker. We dined at Gojo back in December. We liked some of the traditional Ethiopian features such as... With many restaurants there is a kind of self-similarity between food and ambiance. This rule is deliciously broken at Gojo. My wife and I arrived just after dusk on a Thursday evening and could not figure out whether the restaurant was open until someone emerged and we could see lights inside. The neighborhood felt a little sketchy, so we were... More

I read the reviews on Gojo, and they were what motivated me to try it. I like Ethiopian food, and had just eaten at a different Ethiopian place the day before and was hungry for more. I arrived not long after they opened on a Saturday, and was the first customer. I was greeted immediately, allowed to select a table,... More
