Really nice pub that offers plenty of choices for sitting and relaxing. Huge outdoor area, log fires throughout the 3 rooms and very friendly staff. The food is really good, dishes are large and they appear to be famous for their schnitzels, whether it be plain, Mexican or Parmigiana. Steak Sandwhich was great, lamb cutlets was OK bit pricey $26 for two cutlets and they were a bit oily so that was the only negative. I would certainly go back (but I will give the cutlets a miss).

Enjoyed a family dinner at the O'Connell Hotel when in Bathurst recently. We did have a seperate room to all sit together inn in this Covid Era.
Meals were adequate but only fair quality "pub food".
I can believe the place would be great for weekend lunches sitting outdoors as the locals told us.
The location just out of Bathurst is also great.

We had driven the back route from Lithgow to Orange intending to stop at the pub at Tarana only to find out that the kitchen was closed at midday on a Friday! We continued on our way and stopped at the next place that we could find that would serve lunch which was, the O'Connell Hotel.
Large parking area and lots of seating, both inside and out.
Menu had the usual pub classics, plus a range of four different pastas and 13 different pizzas.
We had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad and the chicken Caesar salad. Both were good without being anything out of the ordinary.
Service was good. We ordered at the bar and the meals were delivered to the table.

NOT RECOMMENDED. Recently I stopped and had a meal at this establishment. I was with 2 other colleagues and we were scouting for stops for their upcoming motorcycle tours. When we ordered our meals we were not told how long they would take to prepare. We assumed that it would be a reasonable amount of time. After an hour I asked a young male server how much longer we would have to wait and his reply was ‘I don’ know’ and he then walked off. What he should have said is ‘just a minute and I’ll find out’. Over 1 & ¼ hours later our meals arrived.
When we ordered the young lady would have known how long our meals would take to prepare and she should have informed us. As for the young man’s response, well what can I say about that.

Small local country pub, had friendly atmosphere and good food at a reasonable price.
The only negative was the very limited wine list featuring a local winery. We're not impressed with the red and white we consumed, which was a shame.

Sunny late may afternoon,sun was shining through hate trees into the forecourt. Two women sung live. We had booked which is luckily as place is very popular. It features snug,two inside dining rooms. Two hard under cover verandah. Easy parking. Food was delicious,generous fair prices.

What an awesome spot! Don’t pass this place. A group of 8 friends touring through central west NSW over Easter stopped at O’Connell Hotel - and totally overjoyed that we did. From awesome meals for lunch and dinner, amazing service, engaging staff and great live music, the O’Connell Hotel has it all.
Do yourself a favour call in and sample this great country pub. Camping and space for caravans next door. Great spot.

Great pub meal, hearty schnitzel, and a beer in the sunny courtyard. Lots of outdoor areas to stretch the legs. Recently renovated. Friendly young staff.

A nice country pub with a great atmosphere. It's very old and when it was renovated in the past they've left parts of the walls covered with perspex so you can see the wattle and daub construction. There's a nice grassed area behind the hotel and a lovely big beer garden. In winter it has fires inside as well as a comfortable sunroom - verandah for meals. Food is standard country pub food that arrived quickly.

Amazing food! We had the Satay Pizza and Pumpkin Sage gnocchi. Would 100% return on our travels. Great outdoor seating area and the staff are lovely.

Stopped here for lunch. Great full meals - we sat outside in the mid-sday un so didn't really experience the pub, We'll be back for that another time

Disgusting food & even more disgusting customer service, owner/manager swearing in front of children because we complained the food was horrible! Told to “F#%ing leave if you have a complaint”
Wouldn’t recommend & would never go there even for a drink!
Dirty toilets, don’t think they have ever been cleaned!
BEWARE!!! They should be ashamed of themselves

We have been going to O'Connell Hotel for many years. Great location and venue, however, while the food was good, management seem to have let the place run down. It was dirty, cobwebs everywhere old furniture and was in need of a lick of paint. Just seems the magaement have given up on what was a special historic place in the region. It was dissappointing and I can't recommend it as it is now.
