Stayed in Saignon for a week and found this restaurant for our 23rd wedding anniversary dinner. Saignon is a very quiet village and we were the only couple in the restaurant after making a booking the previous day. We choose La Petite Cave as the new Christmas menu looked fantastic. SERVICE = Excellent - The waitress was lovely to deal... More

The food in this restaurant is wonderful. Venue beautiful. The management are knowledgable about the food they are serving and the area. It is expensive especially as we live in Spain where eating out is far less so. But that dud not spoil the experience. Also although the food was so good and the chef was open to slight tweeking... If you like a beautiful and unique dining space, the freshest of ingredients prepared with talent, this is a restaurant to not miss . Each course was delicious, and beautifully presented. The vegetables tasted like they were just picked. They probably were, as they were from the restaurant's garden. Andrew the owner and Joanna who served could not have been... More

Innovative food, beautifully presented, in a 12th century cellar. The owner could double as a tour guide offering very ,very helpful info about local sites and eateries.

During a recent stay in Saignon I found this small but perfect restaurant. The service was impeccable and my waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the local area. The menu is small but this appears to be so every dish can be made to perfection. I had 3 courses and each was exquisite in taste and appearance. The tarte... More

We are unable to discuss the food here because we just stopped to have a drink at the Petit Cafe in the lovely hilltop village of Siagnon. We spent a wonderful hour on the small terrace and had a long conversation with the wife of the owner. This was quintessential Provence in our opinion.

Over the years we have become accustomed to the unique dining to be had a Le Petit Cave and it never fails to please. Finding a good meal with high quality cooking is becoming increasingly difficult but not at Le Petit Cave and once again this year we left very content. The menu may, as someone else has noted, not... More

This restaurant -- La Petite Cave -- is the embodiment of everything wonderful about French cuisine. Hidden in a tiny hilltop village, it is run by a thoughtful, intelligent chef who limits his menu to what is fresh and seasonal. Be warned, the menu is very small, but three of us, including our 13-year-old, ate very well. We left absolutely... More

food was barely ok, Main course really tiny, Cold lighting. We would advise the owner, who cooks in the open restaurant, to learn how to smile and be friendly as you work in a proffession where hospitality is the theme. The definitely is not about being welcome. The elderly waitress is nice and helpfull.

It's early in the season so the set menu offered no choices but that mattered little when the food was so good. Refined dishes with well balanced and fresh yet sophisticated flavours, high quality produce and a pleasant ambiance all add up to a little gem of a restaurant. It's wise to book and check the menu to be sure... More

This perched village overlooks the entire Calavon valley. In a 12th century cellar that belongs to the old fortifications a secret address is waiting, open evenings only from Easter to November. Andrew Goldsby, young British chef who trained with Raymond Blanc in Oxford, spent three years renovating the vaulted room, and has created a truly romantic atmosphere. His cooking is equally impeccable. Red pepper baked with crab; pink grapefruit and red beetroot; quail eggs and mango salsa; pork filet, white beans, chickpeas, artichoke barigoule and girolles; sandy biscuit with raspberry and banana, passion fruit coulis, and Bourbon vanilla... Is good work in high relief - original flavor marriages, exotic and spicy notes, exuberant colors, refined presentation.
