We visited Valia Calda Restaurant and ordered local cuisine dishes. All were wonderful and best value for money choice.Try smoked trout ,souvlaki and local wine!
Very clean environment and polite stuff.

We were literally blown away!
Everything we had, appetizers, main courses, and even the local red wine(!) was excellent.
Most noteworthy: the sauteed mushrooms appetizer and the moussaka.

OK - so first thing's first, the empty tables in my photo are purely a reflection of these crazy times of COVID-19 (and that I dine pretty early by Greek standards). Tourism in Kalabaka and Meteora is down by roughly 80% or more right now....This is an amazing restaurant and it was one of my happiest meals in Greece. I ordered the local style trout and a lovely local white as recommened by the owner. When he brought bread over after I ordered, I let him know that I can't eat bread because of gluten and he immiediately double checked with me that the vegetables accompanying my fish would be suitable for me to eat. This is really amazing for someone who suffers from IBS. It rarely happens anywhere in the world and made me feel so valued as a customer. It gets even better..... when I finished my meal, they brought me a POLENTA CAKE for dessert - on the house. I was overjoyed. It sounds silly, but I think anyone with dietary issues will understand how thrilled I was - particularly about a dessert that I could actually eat. Thank you, Valida Calda. My husband and I had the cooked mushrooms, baked feta, grilled trout, and lamb with pasta; every bite had us pause and realise how top notch this food was. Highly recommend; good prices, service, and environment.
