The lunch buffet was the perfect sustenance stop after exploring Hengifoss. I had not expected such a range of beautifully prepared soup, main course dishes, accompaniments, salads and desserts. Local ingredients are used whenever possible - Iceland is part of Europe and so I have...ticked European cuisine but this is Icelandic food!
This was well worth the money, it was a delicious and extremely filling meal. We were able to have extra helpings and extra coffee, the lady in charge was so lovely and welcoming. Lots of information about this unique house that has the remains of an old monastery in its garden. This is really near to the local Visitor Centre and a short drive from the Hengifoss car park.More
This is a nice little place. We enjoyed the cake buffet, which also serves some savory food. Everything is as delicious, the homemade bread, tuna salad, fresh vegetables, bacon bread pudding... and of course the cakes (even though they were a little bit too sweet...for my taste). The staff is very friendly and we enjoyed a nice afternoon in the sun on the outside terrace.More
Words cannot describe this. Just go there and try it! The cake buffet is between 14:00 and 17:00 if I remember correctly. All you can eat plus hot chocolate to drink or coffee if you go for that. It's GREAT !!
The setting of the place is beautiful and cozy. The food was really good, I got the beetroot patties and the crowberry brownie. The service was very good and everybody was so friendly and nice. The food is fairly priced and the wait was not...long. There was something for everybody.
I would really recommend to go there, really worth it.More
We came yesterday for our lunch. The food is homemade and very good, extremely Icelandic. Nice place. The service was welcoming and efficient, special mention to the very young lady who was working on the 9th of July 2020, she was a pearl. Smiling, warm,...patient, fast :)
On the contrary, I don’t know who was the woman who seemed to come from the kitchen and was putting things in order in the buffet (maybe the owner), but she was tense and rude (she almost pushed me several time to access the buffet)... Maybe had a bad day? Anyway. It didn’t spoiled our pleasure to eat this good food with lots of locals.More

Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry if we were in some way rude to you. That was not our intension but on very busy days it takes a lot of effort to keep the buffet full of food and things can get tense....More
After an all morning hike up to Hengifoss, we were starving! We found this little place just up the road and were treated to the best local offerings of Iceland. The staff were so friendly and the food was out of this world! Definitely make...a stop here if you’re in the area!More
