I will be the first to admit I have a huge sweet tooth and high standards. After being disappointed by so many overhyped places here in Ireland, Shells was a breath of fresh air. We ended up here twice and really enjoyed the cappuccino and all of the cakes we tried (we tried a lot). Way better than Queen of... More

This seaside café was highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint. We travelled from Donegal (and Cheshire) to sample the burgers, coffee & cakes. The delicious food was matched by lovely Atlantic views and great service. Amazing rhubarb crumble with whipped cream.....my son is still reminiscing about it.

On visit to Sligo with wife and 2 hungry sons. The B.O.T ( beans on toast) would be worth the trip from Cork alone. The boys just about finished the Full House breakfast ( full irish with 2 fried eggs). The queen had breakfast special ( burren smoked salmon on brown bread with avocado and sliver of beetroot). It's presentation... More

This is a seaside cafe but isn't typically seaside-y or tacky. We had chicken & bacon salad & the ultimate burger. The food was lovely, the waitress made recommendations which was appreciated. It was very busy but we weren't made to feel rushed. There were lovely seating areas outside with blankets provided given it wasn't warm. Would definitely go back... More

I looked forward to visiting this cafe again because of its great location and ambiance- what a disappointment. Location can never make up for a disinterested staff who pointedly ignore ones attempts to place an order. We sat... and we sat.... and we sat... with waitresses swarming around us- at least three customers who arrived after we did were served...... More

Strandhill offers the fresh Irish breeze and when the sun shines, a superb Location for lunch outside. You can already see it's a huge hit with visitors and locals alike, as you may have to wait to get a table if you arrive just at 12 midday. It's worth the wait though. Treat yourself.

I cannot fault this small local cafe. Great staff, great food, if anything id have liked more of the soup in the portion I had. just perfect visit every time. I would hope to see some egg free cakes or maybe Gluten free cakes in the future, only thing I picked up on Irish cafe is that they are definitely... More

Visting friends we looked for a decent coffee shop in strandhill, we got our coffee fix (although jeez they weren't the fastest) but worth the wait. The fish and chips were delicious. The outside seating was great and if you ignore the cars, listen to sea as you munch away.

Having had Shells recommended to us we were not disappointed when we visited recently. Terrific choices on the menu and I chose fish and chips. Beautifully presented along with homemade fries it tasted delicious. One little crib was that the fries were a little overcooked but after bringing it to the waitress' attention they were immediately replaced. We had to... More
