Visited here while stopping over for a night at a nearby hotel. Was hoping for really great tapas at a local bar a bit off the beaten track - food was actually very average and a little bland if very reasonable price. Not a bad...More

The tables were all dirty and unattended to, the waitress was rude and threw things down on the table after it took 15 minutes for her to get to us - not an exceptionally busy time. All the dishes we showed interest in were not...More

This is a typical spanish Tapas Bar, not a classic restaurant. We had several good Tapas, especially the ham is good. They serve local Wine and Beer. Until 21:15 it was almost empty, then it got crowded. Desert not to recommend, nothing home made.

We struggled to find anywhere close to the Mercure hotel for dinner and decided to give this a chance. As others have said here it is a traditional local bar with snacks rather than meals. We enjoyed a couple of bread and Jamon tapas. Only...More

Description
We stayed at the AC Algeciras Hotel and asked the staff for a recommendation for dinner. They sent us up to the city center (about a 15-minute walk). On the way, we passed by this small restaurant about 2 blocks from the hotel and decided that if we couldn't find any place special in the city center, we would come back and try this place. It was definitely a favorite of the locals. We were served the best tapas that we had in all of Spain. It was one of those experiences that you hear about where the staff makes something special to serve you instead of you ordering it (it might have been that we also don't speak Spanish and we had trouble communicating). It was very casual and only had about 10 tables and a bar for seating. We were served cheese and carmelized red onions on bread, smoked salmon with cavier on bread, and cheese, ham and tuna on bread. It was so good that we went back for breakfast the next morning and dinner that night. We also recommended this restaurant to a young couple looking for somewhere to go for dinner. Excellent!
