We stayed in a cottage about 2 mins from this pub so we would of been stupid not to have tried it, plus was the mother in laws birthday so we wanted somewhere where we could all have a drink and not drive. The place is quite oldy worldly (you had to go outside to visit the loo) didn't mind... More

We have eaten lunch at this pub quite a lot. For a change walked there for an evening meal. Always a warm welcome. And with hundreds of clocks and pictures place is quirky. On a Thursday night it was quiet, maybe six people at the bar. If you want lively, may not be place/evening for you. Husband had sirloin steak,... More

Entered with the dog and was given a brusque "we don't allow dogs". "Oh" I said, crestfallen. "There is a sign at the door". Correct. There is....at knee height...which is great if you're a dog and you can read. It says "in the interests of hygiene" which would imply that Rick Stein's pub "The Cornish Arms" (which welcomes dogs) is... More

We have an annual visit to the Earl and the food and the unique environment remain superb. I can heartily recommend the fillet steak as this is one of the few places I will regularly eat steak and not be disappointed (never had a bad one!!). The added benefit is the unusual nature of the pub/restaurant which is not only... More

We visited the pub on a recommendation, sadly it didn't live up to expectation. The pub itself is most interesting with its collection of clocks and other antiques. The Roast Beef was excellent but the vegetable, oh dear they were so over cooked and tasteless, such a shame. My other worry was that the outside toilets were less than pristine.... More

No atmosphere when you would think there would be due to the fantastic interior , food very average for the price, one small portion of frozen peas and chips, The duck was lovely but the sauce let it down and the meal lacked presentation. A shame as it's a nice menu with ample choice.

Disappointing Sunday lunch - looked tasty but didn't have any flavour, vegetables were over boiled and tasteless with very soggy roast potatoes

Service very short tempered and grumpy .They need to get a grip on service . How they keep any customers is amazing. Food ok. But only as good as staff ,who are not friendly .
