We've been here once before but visited on Valentine's eve this time. Great to see the menu wasn't a special 'valentines set menu' but rather than a la carte menu with some delicious specials. The food was absolutely delicious, I had Guinea foul and my husband had venison. Deserts were delicious also, great service and cosy relaxed atmosphere. One of... More

We often stop here on our way down to the coast. Always great food. Lovely friendly staff. Always a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Very good menu. Always love the fish. Must have a great chef.

After years of hearing great things about this pub, I was keen to make a visit for my 30th birthday. It more than lived up to expectations. Had smoked partridge breast for my starter - without the sprout purée. First time I'd tried partridge - taste was outstanding. All three of us had roast beef for our main. Every mouthful... More

Visited just before Christmas for a family Christmas Lunch. The food was very good and of superb quality. The meal with drinks was quite expensive but worth it for a nice treat. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs, having an elderly relative with us who had walking difficulties the staff ensured we were sat close to... More

My friend and I made the long trip to this once fantastic pub last Saturday. Sadly the bread was stale that came with the soup starter and the pork belly was tough as old boots. We were very disappointed as a few years ago this served the best food in the county.

We had been looking forward to eating at The Museum as we had recently enjoyed a very good meal at its sister pub, The King John. Unfortunately the evening turned out to be a great disappointment. When we arrived we were told that our booked table was in a room next to the bar. Not being shown to the table... More

Wonderful food, delicately prepared, everything super fresh and full of flavour (including my crispy pheasant and partner's steak) Waitress incredibly attentive but we could have done with prior warning there would be a hefty service charge slapped onto the bill ? Just something to consider ! Otherwise perfect.

We met some freinds over xmas and we were recommend to go to this bar for dinner. The food was to a lovley standard, but I felt it was over priced for what I had and I was put off with the bad language that I could hear from the bar. I understand that it was a bar restaurant but... More

Booked for lunch, did want a quiet area: Table 12, with no difficulty or protestation. Nice tasty Merlot, and Pino Grigo, I thought a tad expensive at £8. Delicious meal: hand made beef pie and buttered savoy and mash, adequate for my smaller appetite. The pork belly, similarly, went too. Creative tart tatin , berries and sorbet. Quite delightful ambiance,... More

Whilst the overall lunch experience was satisfactory a number of corners could be rounded off to improve things. Firstly, the welcome was chilly as we guiltily arrived on spec and therefore could only be offered the "Sandwich Menu" [to help the kitchen] which was actually the "Light Lunch Menu". In truth this was exactly what we wanted.... Despite The Museum's... More
