I am sorry to have to write this review. However here it is.The food was not as good as advertised. The meal was chicken burger and one with chips and one with a microwaved jacket potato. One child's sausage ,chips and baked beans(over cooked and gloppy). One jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw(cheap shop bought and tasteless)easy to make fresh.A coffee, two cans of cola... Very average fish with unnecessary crinkle but chips at seemingly extortionate prices. It's been a while since I paid in excess of £10 for fish and chips twice with a "small" mushy peas. £13.50 for an average size piece of cod, not a large portion of chips and the small peas has to be a local record. Not impressed.

I have been coming here all my life, am 43 now ! I have never had a bad meal, whether a takeaway or sitting in. Its my go too chip shop. Prices are reasonable. Very clean. Friendly staff. Have good opening hours. Try it...you wont be disappointed.

Old style no frills fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. Plenty of seating both up and downstairs. Large selection of chip shop fayre with a few surprises. All cooked to order with decent sized portions. No problems here

I have been eating at Tates since I was a child. (I am in my 50's now). Without doubt one of the best Fish and Chips in the County. I can't think of many that serve chips crinkle cut. Tates do and the feature is a welcome enhancement to an already excellent product. Tates. Outstanding.

We were very disappointed, our food was not hot and did not taste that good when we asked why we were basically told to eat and shut up, my husband requested Ketchup and they brought him 1 packet then charged us 10P for it.

Stumbled on a traditional fish & chip shop in Boston. Haddock chips & mushy peas for me with a mug of tea on the side. And some white bread & butter. In deference to a healthy lifestyle you can ask for a lighter batter. Fantastic meal.

I'm afraid this must be a rare negative , the chips are good , the fish was grey and when brought to the owners attention was told , go to MC Donald's then , trading on an ancient award . Not impressed . The atmosphere is cold . The habitués have been going there since nipper was a pup .... More

I've been there twice recently and enjoyed the meals both times. Had F&Cs both times and a coffee. Service is great and a way to have a seat after shopping. Shame they charge for ketchup but then not everybody wants it so a charge is reasonable.
